From the Participation pack, best by November 30th 08.
Swished the last ounce before pouring it out to get the yeast and what a difference it makes. This is a poster for the style: very hazy body, with a gradient from light yellow at the base of the glass to dark gold at the top. Head settles to a very evenly distributed 1/4" thick cushion of minuscule bubbles. Would have liked some head to last for the whole beer, though.
Smell is wheat malt, on the dry side, with some light mid alpha hops. Only a little lemon. A bit of caramel and yeast.
The wheat on the taste is a little off, could be crisper and wheatier, right now the malt profile tastes more like more typical ale malt. Some muted, resinous hops on the finish. A sour citrus note increases as it warms.
Medium body, moderate carbonation, average.
Average APWA, nothing bad but nothing to distinguish it. After a summer choked with wheat beers I don't think I can make space for this one, but as long as it shows up in variety packs I'll drink it.
