Ravell was served from a 22 oz (1.375 pint ?!) bottle. In a pint glass, the beer was an orangish dark tawny brown color, and was topped by a thin tan head. Enticing aromas of oatmeal-raisin cookie and milk chocolate-coffee malts wafted from the glass. On the palate, a creamy coffee malt base gained excellent sharp roasty chocolate and tounge tingly citric accents in the transition to a nicely tart-limey roasty, somewhat smokey mocha finish that left lingering coffee essence and a hint of sweetness. The body was appropriately full, and the lively carbonation enabled the pleasant tingly citirc effects in the middle. Ravell was a tasty, well-accented porter that deserved the special bomber bottle.
