12 oz brown bottle with a drink by date of October 2010 notched on label

Magic Hat Blind Faith poured an amber color with a thick frothy slightly off-white head that formed good lacing all down the inside of my mug as I consumed it. Aroma is of citrus and grassy hops with light malt in the background. Taste is dominated by citrus lemon and grapefruit with a slight malt kick that helps keep the hops in check. Mouth feel is to the lighter side for an IPA with the carbonation under control.

Not being a hop hound...I like this IPA as it is not over the top in bitterness.

Nice cloudy copper color clor with a sustained film of foam and good bubbling.

The nose makes me think of caramelized oranges...whole. The the citrus from the hops dissipates and you get more toasted caramel malts than anything else in the nose.

There is bittereness to this brew, but not sharp or "hop bomby" in any sense. With bitterness subued a little, the caramel malts and heavy toasted white bread crust flavors come through pretty strong. Just like an EPA should taste, malty and sublimely hoppy in comparison to its American counterpart.

Slightly oily feel to the palate, but the carbonation help cut through that a little. I like how the bitter citric lingers in balance with the sweet caramel malt after each sip.

Pretty standard IPA from Magic Hat is my initial review - it lacks the major intricacies to make this a special drink, but its also pretty good for the style.

Poured into a tulip glass, this beer brings big time, bright white, head. Golden amber appearance, really looks like your standard IPA. Nose shows a bit of the hops - earthiness and spice in the scent.

Taste is pretty light, nothing overly hoppy, but pleasant. Light body, that balances fairly well with a fairly citrus and earthy flavor. This beer is drinkable, and but it doesnt really pair with anything and isnt aggressively good.

12oz bottle, best by 11/30/10, into a Duvel tulip.

A: A straight pour fills the tulip half with clear amber liquid and half with a majestic 3-finger head of creamy off-white foam. Stellar retention and lacing. I have to admit, this is a truly stunning IPA in appearance.

S: It's plenty hoppy, but boy what unpleasant hops they are (Apollo and Cascade according to the box - since I've enjoyed plenty of Cascade-heavy beers in the past, I have to assume the Apollo is responsible for the weirdness): curry-like spice, earthiness, and some margarita-like lime zest. Weird.

T: A little less out-there than the nose, with caramel malt, spicy citrusy hops and a very bitter, astringent finish. Super spicy and sharp; interesting, but not especially pleasing.

M: Smooth + watery with very light carbonation. Weak.

D: My buddy got a sixer of this to split, and I may well be going to the store myself instead of drinking another.

Notes: As much as I dislike Magic Hat in general, the gorgeous appearance of this beer genuinely made me want to like it - I thought it might be the surprise brew of the year. Then I smelled it. I've got to say, having homebrewed a bit, that it really isn't that hard to brew a hop-forward beer that at least smells good. Magic Hat failed. Miserably. I only tried this beer because someone else bought it, and I would advise anyone reading this review to look elsewhere if you're in need of a hop fix. There are far too many great IPAs around to waste time or money on this one.

Cheers!

A- Poured vigorously from the bottle, accumulated about a finger head that quickly dissipated, very nice, deep copper color.

S- Very nice aroma that is hard to place, slightly piney, but mild.

T- Complex blend of flavors, that starts off floral, then gives a hint of pleasant malty sweetness that then leaves a hoppy aftertaste

M- slight carbonation that was pleasant and not overpowering

D- Probably a favorite of mine for a "1 beer night," complex enough to keep you entertained but I don't think I'd pick it for a session beer.

Overall probably my favorite Magic Hat brew-

Served on tap at Coalhouse Pizza's Magic Hat Brewery Dinner in Stamford, CT, paired with low-country shrimp and jalapeno jerk cheese grits.

Pours yellow-amber with no head and a slight lace ring. Aroma is big - cascade hops that smell quite fresh and fruity, apples and pears that continue the fruit theme (though not as prevalent as the hops), and a light caramel malt to round out the body. Taste is dominated by apollo and cascade hops up front, and throughout the body - while the fruit flavors and malt come through a bit, they are overpowered by the hops and I wish they were a bit stronger as they contributed to a great aroma. Hoppy and smooth IPA mouthfeel, enough bite to be refreshing but nothing extraordinary. Overall, this is a very drinkable beer and a solid IPA.

A: Pours a rich hazy copper color with frothy off-white head that fades very slowly. Leaves some clumpy lacing down the glass.

S: Nicely balanced aroma of citrusy hops and carmel malt. Hints of orange and lemon zest come through with some bready notes.

T: Bready with a blast of carmel malt upfront. Then a big wave of citrus hops. Grapefruit and lemon zest are prominent. Nice earhtiness with faint herbal notes. Well crafted and balanced.

M: Medium bodied, ample carbonation. Appropriate for the style.

D: This is a well crafted brew, and one of my favorites from Magic Hat. The hops seem mask the ringwood flavor thats prominent in many of their beers. It's nice to see them release it again, but they should make this part of their year round line-up.

12oz to glass, 'Seize The Cheese' under the cap.

A- A dull, cloudy amber, bordering on light brown, with a nice finger of off-white head that takes its time.

S- Nice balance on malts and hops in the nose, smooth citrus scents. Pretty simple, but nice.

T- Creamy, laid back, only a little hoppy. A little citrus, a little vanilla in the malts, some very restrained smokiness. The hops hit as more sour than bitter in the aftertaste.

M- Best part of the beer. Great body, creamy and silky.

D- Worst part of the beer, not awful, but not even great for the style. The aftertaste doesn't make me want to take another sip.

I wanted to try something new form Magic hat so I picked up a six pack of this stuff and seeing as im an IPA/Hop freak this sounded right up my alley.

The bottle itself is very attractive with nice art work and a funny little saying under the cap just like most magic hat bottles.

The pouring of this ale revealed an burnt orange color with a fingers worth of foam that lasted only several seconds but when you hold the glass up to the light you can see the sediments in the beer giving it the distinct unfiltered aspect that I love in an ale.

The aromas were of citrus hops and sweeter malts that gave a very clean and enjoyable smell.

The taste was better than I expected to be honest. It was basically a hop fest. It overwhelmed me with a bitter first impression but after drinking it for a few minutes you begin to notice the citrusy notes from the hopes along with a very enjoyable after taste that seemed to linger for a long time in between sips. Very drinkable with moderate alcohol.

An enjoyable brew from Magic Hat. Excellent balance of hops. Not too over powering but enough to let you know that your drinking an IPA.

A glaring omission in my review list as this is one of the first craft beers I can recall trying. Wasn't too keen on hoppy beers at first so I don't think I thank much of Blind Faith at the time.
Upon revisiting, I can't say that I now love this beer but I can appreciate it for what it is.
Clearly on the maltier side of the IPA spectrum with some mild fruit notes in the flavor profile. I'm getting some hints of berry and nectarine as far as the fruit goes. The malt has a biscuit type thing going on. The hop character is mostly grapefruit in nature; it's the kind of thing I tend to find off-putting if not done right but it works pretty well here.
A dependable sort of beer.

Taking a ride on the magic hat ipa tour. Everyone gives props to the magic hat ipas, so we will see

A- pours a hazy golden amber with a strong head. There is a fair amount of lacing on the sides of the glass. It definitely has an ipa look

S- a generous amount of floral hops that mingle with caramel, pears, and even some apples. There is a balance in the scent with a sweet malt smell as well

T- the taste stays in tact with the scent as well. A fantastic dry hopped up flavor of floral and caramel tones. This is tasty

M- crisp and creamy

D- blind faith is arguably one of the best magic hat brews ever. This is so tasty and even easy to drink. I can slam a sixer without even knowing it

Poured from a bottle into a standard pint glass. Part of the 2010 summer sampler pack.

A: A dark orange color with some brown hints. A nice one finger white head leaves lacing.

S: Citrus and floral hops with a hefty malt sweetness and some grassy earthy notes.

T: Citrus hops start with lighter flavors of lemon, pineapple and grassy herbal notes. The sweet caramel and toffee malt keep the hops down and provide a large malt backbone that stays through the finish. A bit buttery also that stays smooth. Hops kick for a bit of bitterness at the end. Very drinkable.

M: Medium, sticky, bitter with no alcohol flavor.

D: High, very drinkable and easily enjoyable. Have a couple.

Overall this beer was solid, one of the better Magic Hat brews I've had. I'm not a huge fan of MH, but this beer was solid (not a superstar though) and one that I would drink anytime. I found this one the most enjoyable of the summer pack and would drink it anytime.

I remember when I first turned 21 about 3 and a half years ago Blind Faith was a regular fixture in the Magic Hat lineup. In my opinion they were also a very different (and much better) brewing operation back then. I am glad to see them bring this back in the midst of nixing classics from their lineup and replacing them with unworthy beer experiments.

A - Pours a hazy golden brown with a 2 finger creamy colored head. Good retention on the head and sticky lacing.

S - Grassy and floral, with some caramel malt.

T - Buttery tasting malt and grassy hops. This is a well done English style IPA, and truly like tasting a beer from the past from Magic Hat. Earthy and sweet but very well balanced with a burnt/toasty and bitter aftertaste.

M - Chewy mouthfeel with medium carbonation. My only complaint is that it has an astringent and slightly metallic aspect.

D - Heavy on flavor but doesn't feel too heavy going down. I could definitely session this.

Overall, one of the better Magic Hat brews I have ever had. I am gaining hope for them once again, assuming the other "IPAs on Tour" can hold up.

Enjoyed out of the bottle while visiting Cape Cod

One thing this brewery does really well is in their marketing...You cannot help but grab this beer without noticing the packaging...Luckily for all of us the beer itself is very good too

Pours a deep amber nutty color with good off white head

Didn't get much aroma just a hint of hop spice...was looking for a malty scent but I didn't find it

First thing I noticed was how smooth the beer was...good lace around the rim of the pint glass as I continued to sip...Excellent hazelnut malt balanced with the subtle, but noticeable, hop backing...Every sip was as good as the last...Before I could offer some to others I noticed they were almost all gone...Not that this beer was forgettable but how amazingly smooth and drinkable it was...A great session beer

Bocce Ball was in order and I had this fine beer as my partner

A - Poured out a clear, golden amber color with a one-finger, off-white head of very bubbly foam. It left a little soapy residue on the glass.

S - It smelled of fresh cut grass with some floral notes. It had a nice malty nose, too.

T - A well done English IPA that matches the malt forward style. Good caramel and toffee flavors with some grassy hops.

M - It was crisp, sharp and smooth. A light to medium bodied ale with a dry finish.

D - This is a nice English IPA. One of the better Magic Hat brews that I have had to date.

Hard to believe that I've never reviewed this.

Pours a mild amber color with a one-finger head into my glass. Good presentation thus forth.

Aroma is full of buttery malt with just a hint of grassy hop bitterness in the nose.

Taste is full of buttery malt and grassy hops. No-frills here and reflective of the style.

Mouthfeel is full of lingering buttery malt and grassy hops. A bit harsh but nothing more beyond that.

I'm glad they brought this back for a short time. It's certainly better than Lucky Kat in some ways and worth trying while it's still on shelves.

Blind Faith by Magic Hat Brewing. 6.2% alcohol content English India Pale Ale.

A- Pours a beautiful hazy orange fluid with a nice off white head that drops to a froth and heavy lacing that clings to the glass.

S- Dominate scents of citrus and grassy hops upfront with light carmel and sweet malts in the backbone.

T-M- Taste is solid with upfront grapefruit, citrus and grassy hop bitterness. Thick malty notes of sweet tea and carmel are in the backbone with a fresh finish. Mouthfeel is easy with a dry and astringent feel.

Hazy copper color with small suspended floaties. Spotty lacing.

Citrus hops with a sweet malt balance. Definitely on the hoppy side, though.

The hops are bitter and have a heavy presence of orange and lemon rind. The knock here is the flavor is watered down. Pretty good taste, but leaves me wishing it was more full.

Mouthfeel also a bit watery, but what it lacks in flavor it makes up with a nice dry finish.

Good drinkability. Light and refreshing. Overall, a decent beer and about what I expected out of Magic Hat.
