On tap at Barney's Beanery in Pasadena.
A: #9 is a cloudy light amber color with a fluffy white head that doesn't leave much, if any, lacing in the glass.
S: The smell is incredibly sweet, and not necessarily in a good way. A lot of artificial fruit smell, mostly apricot.
T: The taste is all fake, sugary, candy-sweet apricot. There are probably some other flavors in there, but the aforementioned "quality" is just overbearing.
M: The mouthfeel is surprisingly decent. The body is medium and there is moderate carbonation.
D: This is one of the least drinkable beers I've ever had. It's just so sickeningly sweet that I tried mixing a bit of Stone IPA in it to make it a bit more palatable. I finally just gave up and drank the IPA instead.

Haters gonna hate. I feel like this beer is underrated on here because it has three characteristics that people on BA tend to dislike: it's a fruit beer, it's mass distributed, and it's made by Magic Hat. While not an amazing beer, it's certainly better than average. The point of rating beers on BA is to consider a beer within its own genre...and as far as fruit beers are concerned, I think this one is damn good. If you don't like fruit beers, it should be no surprise to you that you won't like this one. If you think it's uncool to drink Magic Hat, either because it's mass distributed or because of the West 6th thing...then don't drink it. Anyway, now that I'm down off my soapbox, the flavor of this is rich, and the apricots definitely come through, refreshing pretty much any time of year. The color has an inviting orangish hue which I find very appealing. Mouthfeel isn't awesome, a little heavy on the carbonation. Overall, a pretty good beer.

This has always been a favorite since my college days (whenever I had enough money to afford it). Love the sweet, fruity smell you get (its not over powering though) and its smooth going down (not a lot of bit). Always a fall back beer for me, if nothing else catches my attention.
