Notes/Commercial Description:
A beer cloaked in secrecy. An ale whose mysterious and unusual palate will swirl across your tongue and ask more questions than it answers. A sort of dry, crisp, refreshing, not-quite pale ale. #9 is really impossible to describe because there's never been anything else quite like it.

Magic Hat #9 has a very thick, off-white, soapy head and a clear, copper appearance with lots of lacing, but almost no streaming bubbles. The aroma is fruit forward (apricots?), and one also detects water and mild breadiness. Taste is very fruity, with apricots or peaches, and ones gets white bread and some hop bitterness at the end of the sip. Mouthfeel is medium and soft, and Magic Hat #9 finishes mostly dry and easy drinking. Overall, even though I’m not much on fruit beers, this is pretty good.

A decent brew by Magic Hat. One of my favorites back in college. This pours amber gold with a small white head. Aroma of apricots, tangerines, wheat?, a bit of brown sugar, some pine. Flavor follows with light citrus sweetness, only a small bit of bite, and a sweet finish. Mouthfeel is light medium with medium carbonation. Listed as a fruit beer might be a little misleading, while it is sweet and apparently contains fruit, this is more of a light sweet pale ale. Style is between pale ale and summer ale, and has a little spice, a little hops, and some slight citrus. I am curious if they changed things, as others seem to get a lot more fruit character than I do. Doesn't finish as clean as I would hope, but an okay beer overall.

Magic hat has always been very unique with there beer making. Everyone I have tasted has been excellent including #9. This beer has an excellent color and taste. The smell is kind of a fruity aroma. And the taste is the same with a bit of bitterness at the end.
