On the invain search for the real seasonal spring beer (Maibock or Helles, Heller Bock), we found this in a local store for a good price (1.75 $), so we took the chance. It said Spring Seasonal on the label, so we bought it, even without knowing what it would be like.
Poured into a Pilsener flute, it showed an amber colour with a thick foamy head. That was unexpected, since we expected a light (german "hell") colour.
The foamy head stayed around for quite a while, and while there was not much aroma to be noticed, the taste was actually very nice. Not much malts, but no hop overload either.
It was very balanced and actually light. So the lightness here was not in the appearance but actualy in the taste.
The carbonation was mild, but not as weak as in a Kellerbier or Zwickel (Ungespundet). It felt good, the medium carbonation allowed the taste to come out. With too much prickles in the mouth you normally don't taste anything (maybe that is why american macros do that, so you wouldn't notice their lack of taste?).
Due to the lightness one could probably drink more than one beer on an occasion. We are not used to that and rarely drink more than one beer between the 2 of us.
We also shared this one, but we probably could have had more, if we had wanted to. We just don't do that, though.
A nice, easy down beer I would buy again. Not in cases, but another bottle would be welcomed.
