I just picked this beer up at the Central Market in Fort Worth when looking for a "staple" for the night. Let's give it a shot:
Appearance: Pours a very slightly cloudy red-orange color with a small 1/8" head of light tan bubbles on top. There are quite a few bubbles rising, but they don't really stick once they make it to the top.
Aroma: I initially got plenty of sweet caramel notes and a very subtle roast component that is almost peat-like. There is no alcohol noticeable, and the hops are reserved as well contributing only a subtle floral note. As the beer warms up some, it is getting a bit grainy like they may have sparged it too warm or something.
Taste: The flavor follows the aroma pretty closely. It is mostly sweet with caramel being the most notable component of the sweetness. There are some mild toasty notes that the aroma didn't lead into. Otherwise, the body is medium with ample carbonation and a reserved creaminess left on the back of the palate after drinking. The alcohol is completely reserved and unnoticeable.
Opinion: This is a pretty decent beer. It shows that Magic Hat indeed knows how to step mash as there is a lot of malt complexity in this beer. That said, there is a little something going on with the grain that is a little out of place and I suspect that it was just a mash rest instead of anything catastrophic, and it may have just been this batch as it is subtle. Anyway, if you are a big fan of the Oktoberfest style, like I am, you would want to give this one a shot. It's as it is classified "worthy".
