A - Outside, straight from bottle. Not crazy about the bottle art though.

S - Some sweeter malt and faint fruity notes.

T - Malty in nature with a bit of caramel sweetness and hints at darker fruit. Lacking a bit in depth and complexity.

MF - Smooth, on the lighter side of medium-bodied, with good carbonation.

O - Likely my last fall seasonal this year. This brew was pleasant, but not worth seeking out again in my opinion. I prefer the more complex Octobers from East Coast breweries that are available at the same price.

Appearance- Orange brown, light with a thin white head. Slightly Murky

Smell- Cinnamon, White pepper. Light spice with a squash like aroma

Taste- Sweet malts that hint orange are surrounded by Gentle spicy flavors. The white pepper smell comes through here very well.

Mouthfeel- Decent body with long lasting spice linger.

Drinkability- I could very easily drink 3 or 4 in session.

Notes: My first Magic Hat Brew. Not bad, try this one with meatloaf and cheesey mashed potatos

Perfect Autumn Brew.
Had this at a nice dinner potluck with friends in Early October.

Straight From bottle, has a nice thickness and warm taste. very much like a toffee and cinamin with a slight malted hoppy finish, goes down so smooth. Perfect for a Crisp autumn night with friends.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a Samuel Adams Boston Lager glass. Taken from a Magic Hat "Participation" variety pack.

Appearance: Pours a translucent amber color. Has a small, foamy head that dissipates quickly and leaves little to no lacing.

Smell: Has a caramelly and slightly smoky aroma with a bit of Noble hops.

Taste: Mildly bitter and up front with a bit of caramel sweetness. Finishes bitter with a touch of smoked malt as well. I can tell there are some good flavors at work here but it honestly feels like it needs to be turned up a notch. The flavors are kind of weak and muted, but I can sense the potential.

Mouthfeel: Crisp, with a water-like body.

Overall: A kind of "meh" beer overall. I can see the idea behind it and appreciate some of the flavors; I just don't think they pull it off very well. This is a common theme with Magic Hat it seems. Lots of interesting flavors, just poor execution.

Pours a light mahogany with very little head and zero lacing. Looks very thin even for an octoberfest. Lots of active carbonation.

Smell is pretty surprising. Pleasant bready malts up front with some fruit in there. sour cherries, plum, very sweet smelling and different for the style.

The taste is a weak interpretation of the smell. Strong bready malt backbone. Some tartness but it is more from the hops in the finish than any fruit from the nose. Somewhat watery and thin.

Mouthfeel is thin and a tad over-carbonated. Prickly in the tongue.

This beer is very drinkable and goes down easy. Not the tastiest interpretation of the style I've had but decent. Due to the light body and decent taste I would say this is very sessionable but not a beer I would reach for again.

"Beer reviewed from notes"

A-Poured into a pint glass from the tap. Pours a light amber with flecks of red. decent amount of speckled lace head is Bone white.

S-I am not sure whats up with the scent of this beer. It smelled very musty. Not sure why but the scent of something close to wet towels killed all other scents in this beer. Almost to the point of me questioning drinking it.

T-Taste is awesome. Lots of malty sweetness with a very mild amount of bitterness at the end. Good complexity with nothing clashing terribly.

M- Mouthfeel was also dead on for the style.

D-This was a decent beer if you can get past the scent. Not sure why that happened but it was a first for me. I wont be getting this one again.

appearance: Deep amber. filtered clear with decent rising bubbles and a tan head that lasts for quite a while thanks to the extensive malt selection including crystal.

Smell: Deep malt characteristics. Almost like fall but not like your smelling a pumpkin pie. Caramel and with a hint of Bavarian noble hop.

Taste: High malt content up front which symbolizes a decent Oktoberfest. Deep caramel with a decent amount of earthy smokey malt towards the end. slight bitterness from the German hops but nothing intense.

Mouth feel: smooth malty finish with a slight smokey aftertaste. Easily drinkable.

Overall: Unique Oktoberfest nothing a wouldn't expect from Magic Hat. Malty and satisfying, very decent for the fall season.

Presentation: 12 oz. brown bottle with no freshness date. Bottle cap reads: "Be True. Be You." Served in a steidel.

Appearance: Very clear, dark amber color. Almost a finger of head, that quickly fizzles out into a thin ring. No lacing on the glass.

Smell: Not aromatic at all. Slight hints of malt and hops, but that's about it.

Taste: Quite malty with a helping of hop bitterness. A bit of sweetness in there as well with an overall smoky taste.

Mouthfeel: Not that much carbonation. It's medium bodied and creamy.

Overall: Not the best seasonal out there, but it's not like Magic Hat was out to knock everyone out. It's certainly one of the more interesting ones available. Definitely worth a try.
