Bottle supplied by the brewery.
A pale amber/gold in color with a short head.
Bready and sweet aroma; however, I can't detect the spruce.
The spruce shows up in the taste, bringing a cleanser-like quality to the beer, along with earthy notes. The flavor strikes me as artifical, rather than being from actual spruce. That flavor, which I don't mean in a totally negative way, mixes with a hefty malt flavor like bread and biscuit.
Nice hefty body.
Overall a curiosity. My favorite spruce beer was made by the late Siletz Brewing Co. in Oregon with fresh spruce tips.
