12oz brown bottle with no freshness date

Bight clear golden hue, bubbly thin lace. Vague coriander and salt, bread crust, green plantians, mustard seed, and nutty yeast in the nose. Semi-smooth, crisp moderate sized body with a dryish palate. Maltiness lands a little watery though does express some biscuity and grassy flavors. Modest hop bitterness goes well with the saltiness and subtle coriander. Grainy finish.

Not half bad, just misses the mark a bit more me ... still a decent drink.

undated 12 oz bottle served in a lager glass. Confess very limited familiarity with this style, and I sampled it without, at first, knowing or guessing the style. Sparkling clear despite a thin coat of sediment left on the bottom of the bottle.

Light and tart, as expected for style, but with a lemon and apricot fruitiness. Good dosage of coriander; sufficient to have a clear yet subtle effect on the flavor, aroma and aftertaste. Light body with medium-high carbonation that's a bit coarse.

Overall: A light, fruity and refreshing version of this style. Little in the way of salt or wheat. Improved with warming, allowing more of the malts to come forward.

The head, just the slightest shade away from white, rests at one finger or so, fluffy and fairly thick, on a cloudy golden brew. Activity continues steadily as it sits, and the head never diminishes beyond a pretty thick foam that leaves patches, though the body doesn't provide as much stick to the lacing as it should.
The yeast is heavy in this one with lots of earthiness, nuttiness and something green and raw along with dry, bready notes from malt and some kitchen spices. Interesting and not off-putting, though a sort of earthy/sulfuric/seaweed-like element, not to mention something skin to mustard (curious, but fairly subtle) could throw one off.
The taste isn't nearly as salty as I'd expect, though it's there. It doesn't overwhelm. I'd even expect a briny sort of finish, but I've had some DIPAs and stouts lately that gave much more of that brine than this beer. It tastes (and feels) like the malt base is wheat. There are also, however, more crusty/biscuity malts notes as well. There's a fruitiness underneath and a bit of sulfur as might be found in a pils or a Helles. Otherwise it's very earthy and there's something raw and grassy underlying the base.
At first, this beer is absolutely creamy and fluffy, with a nice body. That tapers off, and the crispness is left to carry it through, which it does.

12 oz bottle served cold into a pint glass.

Saint Saltan is a very pale golden yellow color with a slight haze. The head is fizzy and short lived with no lacing left behind.

Aroma is mild and sweet with a bit of a yellow corn element.

Flavor is also fairly mild with lemon, coriander, and slightly spicy European hops. The salt is there but it's not a distraction.

Mouthfeel is light in body and appropriately carbonated.

Overall not a bad beer but also not one I would get again.

Magic Hat Saint Saltan
12 oz. bottle, ink jet date code on neck not possible to read

A gose beer. Interesting. A good choice for Magic Hat.

It pours a hazy deep gold body beneath a fluffy head of bright white. Appropriate. Good head retention and lacing.

That Magic Hat yeast is still present in the nose. Malt. A light touch of fruit.

In the mouth it's medium to medium-light in body with a gently crisp carbonation.

The flavor is fuller and more rounded. It's not tart, but there is a suggestion of it, mainly showing in the finish. Salt, however, is present. Some coriander. OK balance between the components (somewhat wheaty malt, yeasty fruitiness, actual yeast flavor & chalkiness, saltiness, delicate spice, moderate bitterness) but it seems that the tartness is lacking. Hops take a back seat as they should, but maybe a bit too much so, just leaving a dusting behind.

It's an interesting beer, although it's a bit choked back like most of the other Magic Hat beers. A slight touch of sourness would really bring it into focus and leave it more drinkable.

12oz bottle

This beer is brewed with coriander and sea salt.

A- Pours a clear golden yellow color with a nice off-white head with decent retention and lacing.

S- The aroma is very faint malt, coriander and salt. Not much else to note in the aroma.

T- The taste like the aroma is faint malt up front with an almost salty finish and a moderate amount of hops in the finish as well.

M- The mouthfeel is light bodied with a high amount of carbonation creating a prickly mouthfeel.

O- Overall, not bad but not something that I would want to drink again. There just wasn't much flavor, and the faint flavors that were there just didn't do much for me.

I, too, purchased this from the House of 1000 beers...But I got it for $1. Others have said there isn't much memorable about this beer and I would agree. Maybe that is the reason I like it so much. Just a beer to enjoy ice cold right from the bottle and not feeling the need to remember it. Maybe I like it because it was just a buck....

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is salty, some grains. Taste is also salty up front, some malts and grains, easy drinking. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a different and pretty good beer.

Pours a hazy yellow with a foamy white head. Smell is yeasty, with coriander, hints of bread and citrus. Taste is grainy, coriander, yeast, with the salt coming in at the end and staying through the aftertaste. Very interesting flavors, but balance out well. A smooth well carbonated light bodied beer. Overall an interesting beer, good flavors, and a nice balance. Worth a try.

Clear light orange color, minimal white head, meager retention and lacing. Aroma is even more meager. Maybe some graininess? It's kinda like smelling a bud light almost. Tasted like stale cardboard. Not fresh cardboard, but cardboard that has been left out a couple days. Faint mineral note and grains, maybe a spice note. It tastes so stale, It comes off as uncarbonated...but it's not. Crisp, decent carbonation, kinda watery, easy to drink...thanks in part to little taste, let alone any noticeable gose characteristics.

What a disappointment. Unrecognizable saltiness, no spices, and where is the lactic acid? This is a poor example of a Gose. I like for brewers to brew out of their comfort zone, but they were obviously brewing outside of their capabilities with this one. Pass.
