Pours cloudy dark golden color with white head.
Aroma is citrusy but not so bitter.
Some great hoppiness in this nose.
Medium body, slight dry finish.
Has a nice balance, not overwhelmingly hoppy.
Overall, this is a beer that is drinkable without being weak, but not a lotover powering of hops.

Poured a clear ligher gold with a tight white head that left a trace amount of lace behind as it settled pretty quickly. The hops didnt really assert themselves in the nose as much as I expected there was a noticable pine aroma but it didnt jump out at ya I also picked up a lightly toasted note. This is a pretty dry IPA not bitter but hardly no sweetness to be had, herbal and grassy hop character over top of a dry grainy malt base. The dryness of his beer for me makes it very quaffable if not very complex, all in all a pretty good IPA but there are alot better out there.

Appearance – The AIPA is a beautiful, dark orange in color with hints of brown and a gorgeous, lacing head that came up quickly on an easy pour.

Smell – This balanced nose has some good, spicy hopping (almost like it’s dry-hopped) with a substantial toasty malt backbone.

Taste – The characteristics from the nose blend together well at the taste. The malts are on par with the hops for sure. The sweetness runs throughout the flavor profile, which is interesting. It’s almost like a syrupy table sugar kind of sweetness. It goes perfectly with the malt and hop flavors.

Mouthfeel – This is damn near medium-bodied with substantial carbonation, nice bittering, and a wonderfully dry finish.

Drinkability – If you’re looking for a well-balanced East Coast IPA this is it.

Comments – Great thanks to a great gal, JustE, for sending this one to me all the way from PA.

This is one of Magic Hat's better efforts. It's a hazy yellow color with a medium head and no lacing. It has a floral, grassy odor, very pleasant. The taste is mostly hops, fairly sharp. Pretty good mouthfeel, and very drinkable. If you associate Magic Hat with #9, this is a much better beer to drink.

Brown bomber bottle. Freshness date on the back label.

Golden, peach, haze-stricken beer with a pure white head. Haze clears as the beer warms. Mega-hops in the aroma; pungent, herbal, pine, citrus, fresh cut grass. A bit musty.

Somewhat coarse mouthfeel, thin to medium in body. Crisp. Hops are all up in your face ... cheesy, herbal, leaf, earth, strong and sappy pine with a citrus twang underneath. Notes of apple, pear ... yeah, a bit cidery here and there. Touch of medicinal in the background. Fruity esters, touch of strawberry within the sweet malty character. Bready. Oddly coarse and dry in the finish. Plenty of yeasty Ringwood flavours, too.

It's great that MH has finally embraced their hippy-ism with this release, however I found this beer to be very unbalanced and hard to finish. The hop flavours are a bit too much, overpowering and unpleasant at times. Still, an interesting brew with plenty of character.

I like the label on this one, especially Billy Graham on the lower left corner. Nice touch. Pours a nice orange-amber with big white lacy head - basically what I expect a good IPA to look like. The nose has a decent resiny hop hit, but not over the top.

The flavor is like grapefruit rind marmalade on wheat toast - a sharp, resinous, bitter hoppiness with toasty, slightly grainy/sweet maltiness. If you're looking for the massive hop explosion of a Northwestern IPA, this isn't it. More subdued, almost like a British IPA made using Columbus hops. The mouthfeel's a little thin for my tastes - could use a hint more body to balance the bitterness, which hangs around well past the finish. The alcohol doesn't really make its presence known very loudly at all. It's very drinkable and works very well on a hot day. Goes well with hot Italian sausage, too.

Overall one of my favorites from Magic Hat. Yummy on tap at the AOBF - on cask, this would be huge.

12 oz bottle poured into imperial pint glass.

Appearance: Copper in color. White head, settled quickly, fair lacing.

Smell: Smell some biscuit in there then the hops, mainly fruity. Not overly pungent.

Taste: Very nice hop taste, floral and fruity. Nice maltiness. Pretty balanced and quite tasty, haven't quite got all the dimensions of the taste down but i got five more to investigate. I barely notice that it is 6.8% where the hell did they sneak that in there.

Mouthfeel: Nice and smooth, light dry body.

Drinkability: I am not a magic hat fan to say the least but this beer scratched me where I was itching. Nice balance makes this beer a solid session brew. I could drink a few of these on a spring saturday and I will this coming one while I make a kegerator and prepare a boiled dinner.

It has a great hazy appearance with a golden honey color. The aroma is full of floral hops up front with malt and yeast notes in the background. Its flavor has an herbal and almost fruity hop character with a heavy supportive base of toasted malts and doughy yeast that adds a nice complexity. It has a silky light to medium body that's a little bit oily and has a fairly short dry finish. Wonderful.

Pours a very pale orange color with a decent head that fades away and leaves no lacing. Smells of honey, melon, citrusy, pears, but strange. Tastes of more honey, lots of butter, melon, and a bit of bitter hops but not much for an ipa. Tastes very weird...almost like a hoppy hefeweizen. I'm really put off by this and wish I didnt grab a 12-pack of it. Its a pretty thick beer too....semi dry finish. Not very drinkable...I remember this being a lot better.

Under the cap reads "A Magic Brew or two may lead you to the loo", wow this one actually makes sense!! Bright amber toned golden hue with a clear look which this beer has not seen in the past, the lacing effect is fine and a product of the high amount of hops used. Wild flowery aroma, buttery backing shows an underskirt of butterscotch. The beer show goes on with soft malty and fruity aromas in the back. A bitter brew, nothing earth shattering as far as cataclysmic hop presence but certainly within style. Its more of a solid hopping to meet the malt a bit more than half way. The hops drop a long lingering flavor for the malt to figure out the puzzle, it does in time with an ample amount of sweetness and lightly toasted grain. Balance to style so the hops are still on top. Alcohol is mild mannered being that it is over 6%, a good amount of fruitiness slips in but the hops knock it down enough. Semi-dry finish.

Why oh why is this a seasonal? A solid brew to say the least, hoppy enough for me ... my expectations were met and that is all that matters. I paired this up with some spicy chicken in peanut sauce ... the more chili paste I added the better it was.

12 ounce bottle with freshness dating. Pours light orangy amber, clear, white minimal head, departs fairly quickly, leaves nice light stringy lacing. Bready malty ale, a tad light on the hops for my tastes. Bitterness is there but not any exciting flowery of floral notes, more of a dull, mellow hoppyness in the background and finish. Pleasant enuf stuff, but didnt knock my socks of as a really killer IPA can.

Note 3-13-06: Gotta give Magic Hat big props for putting San Francisco artist Stanley Mouse's fine artwork on their label of this beer.

Nice looking and easy drinking brew, but c'mon where is the hop crunch? Pretty mild mannered IPA IMHO

This is from their new 12oz. bottled seasonal notched to enjoy by June '05.
Pours a golden bronze w/ two full fingers of cloudy white head after a fairly aggresive pour. Impressive lace w/ carbonated bubbles clinging to the side of the glass as 1/2 of the head disappears.
Aroma is very mild w/ a timid spiced hop and malt...nothing real impressive going on. Smell takes me back to the days of drinking MGD's...never a good sign.
The taste has a bit more going on, but I am not in love w/ this beer as I was in the past, although my pallet has been desensitized by many a IPA and IIPA's.
It is very refreshing, but quite thin. The hops never really produce any bitterness in my opinion, but the aftertaste is very clean if cold...otherwise, that MGD feeling comes back. Could be a highly drinkable brew if I was in love w/ the flavor...I'm not at this point. An average IPA and a few steps below what I am used to from Magic Hat.
I still have a few 22oz. bombs from the last batch...I will have to add some notes to this review to compare.

I had this on tap at Union Jack's on the Manatawny

Arrives a slightly hazy (chill haze) peach color with a 1/2 finger of off-white foam. After 5 minutes or so, the head drops to a nice coating and a ring. Lacing observed for the duration. Fairly strong carbonation. Pretty beer!

Aromas of floral/grassy hops, good fruity/bready caramel, Ringwood(?). Pleasant smells.

First flavor is sweet bready malts, then a strong bittering blast from hops. Grapefruit, orange peels, grass and flowers. There's alot going on here! A complex brew. Pretty sure it's Ringwood. It's OK!

Mouthfeel is smoothly sweet, pretty damn tingly carbonation mouth puckering bitter, and lip smacking good.

This beer is recommended, unless you don't like Ringwood yeast. The flavor is present, but the beer is damn drinkable.

Poured into a pint glass,Creamy white head about 1/2 inch, dissapated quickly left a slight coat of foam.A little bit of lacing from the side of the glass.A light coppery color, slight orange hue.A piney citrusy aroma.Taste piney first, than citrusy, followed by a sweet carmally malt taste. A medium body,a bit chewy.a nice clean, slightly sharp aftertaste that slowly creeps up on you.A well balanced very drinkable IPA. Not overpowering, but very enjoyable.
