The beer pours hazy golden yellow with a nice thin white head. The beer is actually rather hazy and reminiscent of a hefeweizen. The carbonation was rather consistent from the bottom and healthy for the beer style, and the lacing is a fine sheet on the side of the glass that has some sticky tendencies. The beer smells properly wet and full of citrus pine with a nice body of sweet salty biscuity malt. The hops to hint at a medicinal aroma, but are really rather nice, hinting at lemon zest and grapefruit. The beer tastes nicely bitter and biscuity. Lemony grapefruit lingers bitterly in the mouth in the aftertaste, but the middle is nicely balanced between malt and hops. The hops border between being too sweet, but don’t ever quite over power the taste buds, and leave the bitter aftertaste with a nice sweet tinge. Mouthfeel is crisp and clean, but surprisingly lacking in carbonation. It leaves the mouth with a nice torrent of spittle. The roof of the mouth is quite dry and sticky on the tongue. Overall this is a solid I.P.A. and a great example of the style. This beer is a solid example of the more bitter versions of the style and perfect for those looking for the next step in bitters after they have begun their hops quest. Worthy of a drink.
