Appearance: high carbonation, golden yellow

Smell: lemons, cloves, and bananas

Taste:some malts, and the lemons, cloves, and bananas

Mouthfeel: light, crisp, slightly sweet

Drinkability: I could have another, but will not go out of my way for it. This is a bit on the light side for hefe. A decent beer.

A-Very cloudy reddish/straw color. Two fingers head when served that lingered looong and lacing was tiny bubbles to the end.

S- Typical for style, bananas, cloves, wheat and citrus.

T- Exactly like the smell, in just that order. It’s a good balance, but I just need to admit, it’s not my style.

M- Heavy, somewhat overbearing hefeweizen. The lingering taste of orange citrus/clove that I just don’t like.

D- I can’t tell one hefe from another. They all leave me flat with the aftertaste I don’t like. Sorry.

I wasn't a huge fan of this beer. It poured with a thick, foamy head that took a while to go away, thus making it difficult to get a good sip. It was a hazy, golden color and the smell of cloves and spices was intense. The first sip-yup-lots of cloves. While I don't mind them in my beer I felt like this was a little overwhelming. Mouthfeel was OK-nothing great and I felt that the spiciness of the beer really took away from the drinkability.

All in all, not for me-too many cloves.

Consumed 6/7/13

Note: 500mL swing-top bottle

Appearance: Somewhere between dark gold and orange - oddly clear for the style, pours with a big, creamy, white head - fades to a small cap, leaves some nice streaks of lacing

Smell: Yup, this is a German Hefeweizen, not an American Pale Wheat Ale - yeasty, with some clove, banana, and some phenols - lightly spicy, with some lemony citrus, and wheat - not particularly potent, but not bad

Taste: Crisp and yeasty with some wheat - some interesting yeast notes, with clove, banana, pepper, grass, and coriander - wheat is pretty obvious, in a perfectly acceptable way - light, pale malts - light sweetness and a hint of tart lemon

Mouthfeel: On the light side, nicely carbonated, very smooth, very quaffable

Overall: Refreshing? What is this, a summer beer or something?

This is a decent hefeweizen. There are some nice flavors here, but the beer as a whole is a bit light. I guess this was intentional, as it is the summer seasonal. Worth a try.

Poured into a Weizen glass. Left a generous bubbly foam head that clung extremely well to the side of the glass. Color was milky white. Beer itself was cloudy, a dark golden amber, and initially had lots of carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass. Smell was wheaty, with touch of lemony citrus. Taste was mellow, not at all hoppy. Citrus seemed to be the main flavor, with a definite lemon base, but wasn't overpowering. Almost a bit sweet. A bit of acidic aftertaste was noticeable, but not detracting. Felt very thin in the mouth, almost excessively watery, but showed no hint of the carbonation that was initially present. Very easy to drink, definitely a strong summer offering

On tap at the brewery served in a taster.

Appearance - golden and surprising clear for the style. Lively head of white foam that lingered a while.

Smell - very nice. Banana dominates, but some clove and spiciness, some phenolic aromas. Yeasty, with notes of lemon zest and wheat. Not particularly strong aroma, but very pleasant.

Taste - follows the nose exactly. A surprise f a little pepperiness on the back end. Definitely "banana forward" with the spiciness taking a back seat, but overall a pleasant beer to drink.

Mouthfeel - light. Very light. Taste is clean and short lived - nothing lingering. Smooth and very drinkable.

Overall - this is a nice summer beer. Very drinkable and I can see sitting around the bonfire at a clambake drinking this one. Reminds me of DreamWeaver, but not as complex or potent. Nice beer.

Growler filled at the brewery, obtained in trade with danadeny. Thanks for the opportunity.

Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a 1/4" off-white head over the cloudy, golden amber brew. Head is gone in a flash, with average lacing. Aroma is wheaty bananas. Taste is upfront with the banana, a good wheat middle, and then a long-lasting banana revisit upon the swallow. Appearance made me expect low carbonation (due to the serving style, I figured), but actually the mouthfeel found just enough tingling bubbles to be just right. Drinkability is excellent. Nice brew here, check it out if you have a chance.

A: A big frothy 2+ finger head fades semi quickly with fluffy Belgian messy head over super hazy orange wheat colored beer.

N: Bavariam hefe, German malts and lots of wheat, some sweetness, light citrus and orange, light fruit and some lager aromas.

T: Lots of wheat, Bavarian hefe like, slightly creamy, citrus orange, lightly grassy, somewhat sweet malty, light and somewhat crisp lager, slightly juicy.

M: Medium body with lower carbonation.

F: Some bitterness like orange peel, lots of wheat and sweet malts, not really dry, little creaminess, some summer wheat flavors too, little chewy too.

Sampling a 22 oz bottle cold poured into a snifter. The beer pours a clear goldenrod hue with some minimal bleached white head that fades to the most minimal edge layer very quickly after the beer enters the glass. Wish there was better head retention.
Aroma is sweet and fruity with some banana and hints of cloves too. A little bready yeast mixed in for a very nice appealing nose.
First sip reveals a light crisp body with very fine and tingly carbonation. Very easy to drink and perfect on a summer day.
The flavor is similar to what the nose advertises with some light grainy malt and a bit of banana and perhaps some lemon.
MOves to a bit of cloves on the finish and never hints on any hops or booze anywhere.
An enjoyable light crispy beer that is easy to drink and is a good example for the style.
worth a shot especially if you are on the Cape in the summer.
