From the 650 ml. bottle acquired at the brewery on May 27, 2017. Sampled on May 28, 2017.
The pour is just about black with a reddish hues in the light and tremendous but fading foamy tan head.
Sweetness abounds in the aroma with roasted dark malts, vanilla, chocolate, and a little butterscotch but a low to no hop profile.
The body is incredibly creamy and light to medium.
I happen to enjoy Porters although not everyone does and I think this hits the mark with its dark roasted flavor, vanilla beans, and an unanticipated mild bitter finish. I'd recommend it if you want to get into Porters.

I am not a big porter drinker, nor a coffee drinker, but this is a really good beer. After a tasting session at Cape Cod I actually opted to purchase a bomber of this (along with the DIPA, which is typically more my style), as it was one of the best beers they made.
As for the beer itself, it is dark, though light can still pass through it. The smell is malty, about what one would expect from a porter. The taste is what stands out. It has a coffee flavor without actually being a coffee beer, and is exceptionally smooth.
