Had on tap at New World Tavern Plymouth--served into a pint glass

Appearance: low carbonation, bright yellow-gold in color, one inch head, clear

Smell: faint light grass

Taste: wheaty, grass, and light citrusy hops

Mouthfeel: crisp, light bodied, moderate carbonation, bitter with slight sweetness

Overall: An above average summer sipper. Nice, grassy and clean--solid but I like other Cape Cod beers better. (424 characters)

Note: 500mL swing-top bottle labeled "Pilsner." I received this as a gift, and as a result I don't have any more details. I think this is the Bohemian Pilsner, simply because the official Cape Cod Beer site says this is released April-May.

Consumed 5/28/13

Appearance: Clear, bright, deep gold - lighter gold and some straw when held to the light - pours with a small, off-white head, fades to a tiny cap, leaves a few streaks of lacing

Smell: Crisp, clean, with decidedly German hops - solid, nice lager malts - pale, grainy, with some corn-like sweetness (probably not corn though) - spicy, grassy German hops

Taste: Spicy, grassy, herbal hops - flavorful hoppy notes with mild bitterness - balanced with some pale, grainy malts - some hints of oily citrus, too - some grainy sweetness

Mouthfeel: Medium body, nicely carbonated, pretty clean but could be cleaner for the style

Overall: A solid pils

This is a nice take on the style. It's one of the best pilsners I have had in a while, and a solid offering from Cape Cod Beer. I'm surprised this is such a limited release. It would be a great summer beer. (1,114 characters)

Picked up at a store near the brewery a few weeks ago, super hot humid day means time for pilsners.

Pours a nice fizzy bubbly airy 1 finger head that fades at a med pace, bits of sticky lacing, crystal clear pale blond color.

Nose smells like a rushed lager... some toasted pilsner malts, straw, etc, but a hint of a sulfur and some minerality, sign of the yeast warming up too quick I think, quite a bit of fruity lager esters as well, with some mild grassy herbal hops in the background.

Taste brings hops out front, grassy slightly herbal, with decent bitterness, and turns spicy and earthy. Then malts, toasted grainy pilsner malts, straw, cracked raw dried malts, grainy, etc, but not too much. Crisp lager underneath, just a hint of that minerality and thankfully no sulfur, although I think it's drowned out by the hops, and more fruity lager esters all over. Finish is pretty bitter, grassy herbal hops with a little spicy, touch more minerality and lager yeast esters.

Mouth is lighter bod, mild lager crispness, decent carb.

Overall eh, nothing special, a touch of off characters but usual for most American brewers trying to get out a Bohemian pilsner, decent hops although maybe a bit too much, but nit picking there, light refreshing summer beer though. (1,272 characters)
