Located downtown near the courthouse this was a great place to find. Although the beer selection was not vast it was great, quality over quantity.
The selection ranged from some of the usual Northwest brews to a decent Belgian and English representation.
Among the highpoints - Stones (well represented by 2 years of Old Guardian among others), J.W. Lees, Thomas Hardy, Rochefort, Grotten, 3 years of Bigfoot...
The selection was rounded out by beers from Dogfish Head, Unibroue, and Avery, among others.
Although Whiteside's is relatively small, there was also room for a good wine selection in the front part of the store.
Approximately one third to half of the store is dedicated to home brewing products and equipment.
The staff was very knowledgeable, personable and helpful.
If you are anywhere in the area a stop at Whiteside's is recommended.

Went here while visiting Corvallis to find some West/Northwest gems. Very large selection of brews from around the world and specific to the Northwest. Tons of great Oregon beers. Service was exceptional. I was greated immediatly and when explained Im from D.C. looking for local Oregon stuff the gentleman immediatly hunted down his local favorites. Great belgians and staple craft beer selection as well. Also have some wine and a ton of homebrew supplies. Man oh man I wish this was in D.C. Youll find more than all of what you need here if searching for some fine Northwest craft beers.

This is a local shop that I have been visiting for some time now.

As you walk in the door, you are greeted by many, many bottles of wine on display and notice that to the right, in an upright cooler, are some beers that Derek, the owner, has decided to keep under refrigeration. I often look in here just to see what is new, but will usually continue on to the beerwall that is just a little further inside and opposite the registers. There are so many different beers in here it is hard to pick and I still have not tried them all, what with new ones coming in all the time and only one liver!

The owner has brought in beers specifically because I asked for them (other stores in town quickly brought in the same beer...) and always steers me in the direction of a quality brew when I ask what is new. While the majority of the beers on display are kept at room temperature, there is a (presumeably cooler) basement to this establishment that houses additional stock and I have seen some pretty quick turnover rates on popular beers. That being said, this store also carries some beers that age well (Thomas Hardy, various "vintage" beers, winter seasonals et. al.) and has maintained a reasonable stock of them so that I don't necessarily have to have my own cellar in order to enjoy a well aged beer.

Pricing at this store is well within the regional averages and even if they weren't, I would go there for the service and nothing else.

This is a fantastic little shop, especially if you like wine as much as beer. The owner, Derek, is very knowledgeable in both wine and beer, and is friendly, not condescending, and always willing to recommend something. The selection is not as high volume as most places, but it makes up for it in quality-- he stocks interesting beers and nothing else. It really makes it nice because you don't have to weed through all the usual suspects to find something worth a second look. There are lots of seasonals, hard to find imports, and magnums. The rear of the store is a homebrew supply shop. This is the type of place you can feel comfortable browsing for a long time for a few interesting bottles, but its not the type of place you'd stop for a 12'er of your fall back fridge filler. Highly recommended, equally so for wine.

Whiteside's has an excellent selection of beer and wine, elegantly displayed on wooden shelves. Much of the wine is laid down in racks. About half of the beer is refrigerated. By way of reference, the selection compares favorably to Portland's famed Belmont Station, only you don't have to ask the cashier to fetch the beer for you. I won't bother to itemize the beer offerings. Suffice it to say there's plenty here to keep an avid beer hunter happy for several months without ever drinking the same beer twice and seasonals were hitting the shelves even as I browsed. Prices seemed fair. Staff was friendly. Location is in the heart of downtown.
