A:pours a slightly hazy honey color with a finger of white head that fades into a thin ring with little lacing.
S: spices up front with lots of bubblegum and candy sugar notes. There are some buttery and fruity aromas bring up the finish.
T: spices up front again with bubblegum and candy sugar present, but less dominating. White grape and sweet bread flavors bring up the dinish.
M: medium-light body with medium carbonation, this beer could use a bit higher attenuation, but it's not too thick and sweet.
O: a solid tripel, overall, especially for a tiny brewpub. Not bad at all.

A nice looking beer, light straw color, basically crystal clear with good bubbles. Nose is fairly mild, some sweet malt and light spiciness. Maybe some wheatiness. Flavor's fairly similar, lots of sweet citrus crispness, malt and a bunch of spices too. Nice, very crisp and light flavor, especially for a generally heavy beer. Feel is highly carbonated, but it works well. Body is pretty thin, but good. This one seems like a strange mix between a tripel and a krystalweizen. Quite tasty.

Smell: slightly fruity, wheat
Taste: Wheat, bananas, some spices, hop bitterness in the finish. some slight alcohol that could be hidden better
Mouthfeel: nice slightly thick. certainly warming. leaves mouth dry and ready for more
Overall: Drinkable good tasting american tripel. pretty impressed with this one fromt the small brewer in royal oak

This beer was served on tap at Bastone in Royal Oak, Michigan. It arrived in a generic snifter, glowing a shimmering brass coloring. It put up a one finger head of white bubbles, but this showed poor retention, leaving only tight spots of lacing here and there around the glass. A chill haze was noted, without sediment to match. Carbonation appeared to be light. The aroma gave banana bread coolness, greasy fried potatoes, glass, green olives, green pepper metallics, huge orange zest sweetness akin to sherbet, rosemary, coriander, black pepper, and gingerbread spiciness, and dirty dishwater wheatiness. Our first impression was that the flavoring was nicely Belgian, with pleasant warmth and spice to the malts in general, with a curiously smoked malt depth towards the back. As we sipped, the taste opened up with biting Belgian pales and Belgian yeast, metallic baker’s yeast, lemon juiciness, honeydew melon, gravel, and green strawberry stem resins. The middle came to a peak with vanilla extract, white sugar, general pale maltiness, sweet wheat, dust and musk, nectarine sugars, peach pit, and black peppercorn spice. The end washed through with smoked Belgian pale malts, spent sulfur, wet wheatiness, biting rye, toasted ambers, cherry and plum fruitiness, cucumber and zucchini vegetals, alcohol, pear, and lemon rind. The aftertaste breathed of stale pale malts, metallics, vanilla woodiness, sweet banana esters, plastic phenols, fusel booze, graphite, strawberry short cake, and pound cake sweetness. The body was full and thick, with medium carbonation. Each sip gave nice slurp and smack, decent cream and froth, and heavy finishing pop and pucker. The mouth was fully coated and lightly cooled, with mild astringent dryness reaching to the corners of the mouth. The abv was appropriate, and although it was easy drinking, this one was a definite sipper.
Overall, what we enjoyed most about this beer was its flavoring. This showed a ton of spiciness mixing with bright phenols, biting citric inclusions, musky fruity sweetness, and flavorful ethanol airs. This even blend made for an easy drinking beer for the style, especially given its thick, syrupy feel, and higher abv. The most exciting and different thing about this guy was the smoked malt on the back. This didn’t come across like an overly roasted, burnt, or charred malt, but rather presented much like what you would find in a rauchbier, with authentic and clean smokiness. Comparatively, the nose, while flavorful and inclusive, felt a bit stale at times, decreasing the warming, inviting nature founder elsewhere throughout the beer. We can see why this beer has so many accolades, and for a smaller local brewery it certainly hits the spot, but we just don’t feel, as a whole, it can stand up to the giants of the style.

Great example of the style. That slight bubblegum ester quality is well managed - present in the taste, but mostly absent from the smell, where it can be a distraction. The wonderful nose is dominated by Belgian candy sugar with a slight floral presence. The zesty carbonation expected in the style has a slight tart bite. Well executed and consistently enjoyable.

Gold with a faint haze and a long lasting, white cap of foam. Spotty lacing. Bready aroma, some alcohol and fruit character. The flavour was very fruity, stone fruits mostly with some faint banana. White bread and a bit of alcohol too. Great balance overall. Medium bodied with carbonation on the low side. Quite dry. A good beer and a solid tripel. One of the best beers I've tried at Bastone.

@ The Brewpub. Dark solid 24k gold witha small head of pure white snow foam. Lacing is quite evident, head is long-lasting. Aromas are all spices, banana, other fruits, and yeasty booze flair. Taste follows suit, a bit bitter from hops at the dry finish too, an interesting blend of American/Belgian ingredients and style lines. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, drinkability is good. A solid triple, especially from a small suburban US brewpub. So much better than the IPA I had at royal oak before this!
