Sticky Icky Icky is a radiantly clear, copper-colored American India Pale Ale. It is loaded with citrusy hop aromas of oranges, nectarines, and apricots. This light, yet full bodied ale is perfectly balanced by equal parts sweet malt and juicy hops. A medium bitterness along with a subtle earthiness lingers in the finish.
This new American India Pale Ale is what Ryan Hale, the head brewer at the Bellaire pub, referred to as his quintessential IPA. Ryan combined all of his favorite hops resulting in what he described as “pure juicy goodness”. This beer is loaded with all of the big citrus and fruity flavors American hops can offer.

Pours cloudy gold. Smells fantastic; mandarin orange, papaya, mango and evergreen. Tastes super bitter and hoppy. The initial bitter blast was shocking and betrayed the expectations I had from the smell. It’s like sucking on lemon and grapefruit rinds.

I had this in an old bottle and it wasn’t great. Had again fresh on tap and it’s good! This rating reflects the fresh vey. Nice IPA. Hazy golden yellow color and ample white head. Smell is ok, kind of a cross between citrus fruit and malt. Taste is also such a fusion, but to even better effect than smell. Nice orange flavor, light malts, bitter but not too bitter. Nice resin flavor but not dank and overly “weed-like”. Feel is viscous but not overwhelming. Overall very solid IPA.

Interesting. Pleasing brassy tones beer with tons of lacing left on the sides of the shaker pint. Head never fully fades despite lower carbonation feel. Nose is straight up apricot jam with a note of hay distantly in the back. Bitter finish counters the jammy attack, but feels flat on the palate. Resinous on the teeth at the after i finish.

Had this in bottle at the request of a bartender in Bellaire, 7/17/21 because she says it replaced Catgrass for the time being. It was very good and I’d buy again. Was refreshing and not to hoppy for a summer quencher.

Dark copper colored with a half inch of of frothy brown on top. Heavy soapy lacing. The aroma is of earthy, dank cannabis. I’m tasting earthy dank piney to vegetal hops with a light crackery malt finish. The mouth is lightly resinous and, fittingly, sticky.

From a 3 1/2 month old 12 oz can into a willibecher. Looks good in the glass, Golden amber with a 1 finger pill white head that sticks around for awhile, reducing to a thin crown that stays a long time, and leaves some nice lacing. Nose is lots of orchard and citrus fruits, a little grass, along with some solid shortbread-like malts. Taste: follows the nose, but better and more full. This is both juicy (in a bright and sharp way, not a sweet and soft neipa way) and very pleasantly (for me, anyway), bitter (grassy and a little dank). The malt is solid, too, and though it isn’t exactly sweet, I think it adds a lot to the overall flavor profile. Carb is just right...moderate, mouthful is full without being heavy, bitter hops being plenty of liveliness, and it dries out on the last third or so.
This is a very fine ipa...right up my alley. Wish I had regular access to it, and wish I could see how it sings when it’s a little fresher.

12 oz can, canned on 9/14/20, into Ploughshare wide mouthed glass.
This beer pours a foggy deep gold with a creamy cap of 2 fingers that stays around for awhile. Lots of broken gloppy lace up the sides.
Aroma is fresh, citrusy, and green. I get oranges, mango, pink grapefruit, pine, grass, gunpowder/fireworks, blueberries, and apricot.
Flavor is a good mix of west coast and east coast. It's so deliciously juicy and fruity yet dry, resiny, and piney. Grapefruit and lemon open this up, followed by juicy mandarin orange, mango, and blueberry. Then as the resins build you taste mostly grapefruit peel, lemon peel, grass, pine, and oils.
Feel is resiny, crisp, dry, and oily. Heat is moderate but within spec for its' ABV. Sticky and dry finish.
Overall, tastes great in the beginning but doesn't have the legs to stay enjoyable over the course of a can. It builds too heavily on the palate with resins and bitterness and pretty soon the oils are all you taste. I'd buy it again if it weren't for this factor. It's a tough beer to finish.
Price paid : $3.25 / can
Would buy again : nah
