The color is a very cloudy but bright unpolished gold. Bubbles cling to the walls of the glass and rise from the bottom for most of the duration, breaking the surface when the initial cap of almost one finger fades off. Rocky lacing clings pretty strongly, dense but perhaps moderately plentiful, despite the short life of the head itself, which still keeps up some foam on the top.
The first whiff is just bread, but lots of citrus comes in. Grapefruit, lemon, orange and strawberry all make the rounds for something both zesty and sweet, a little rind pith contributing as well. hops are light on the nose, mostly grassy.
The taste brings more hops right up front, pith and pine along with floral and young, stemmy wood. Citrus still comes through, though not as bright or sweet as they are in the aroma. Biscuit and bread make the malt backbone.
It's crisp, and the body reaches a solid medium. It goes smooth, a little rough in the middle, then smooths out even as the finish dries almost completely.

Bottle into tulip

Appearance - Pale and transparent orange, 1/2 finger white head, decent lacing and a little active carbonation rising up.

Smell - Mellow citrus, subtle pine and even some roasted notes, not getting lots of alcohol.

Taste - Similiar to the nose with more malt character. Subtle citrusy zest with orange, clementine, tangerine, grapefruit, and even floral notes of pine but all seem to be blanketed by malt character that gives off more of a subtle roast.

Mouthfeel - Light/medium bodied, light/medium carbonation, refreshing and smooth.

Overall - Good beer and glad I tried it.

Appearance: This beer pours a hazy golden color with a decent head. Nothing to write home about.

Smell: A solid malt backbone that will come through on the taste. Seems to be a little smokiness that is interesting.

Taste: Like any Short’s beer, the bitterness is front and center. Even the heavy malt backing cannot fight off the hops.

Mouthfeel: Solid beer but the head retention was a little light..

Overall: A good but different example of an American Pale Ale. Glad I bought a six pack.

A-Golden caramel appearance. Nice off white head about a finger and half. Decent head retention with nice cap that lasted all the way to the last sip. Great lacing.

S-A good amount of clean hops, well balanced by a nice bready undertone. Also a bit of earthiness to it.

T- Good bitterness upfront equally balance by a good sweetness and biscuit taste. Following the nose the sweet earthiness lends a nice finish to it.

M- Light to medium carbonation. Very refreshing and light.

O- It's a pretty good beer overall. Nothing amazing, but it's highly drinkable and has good flavor. The earthiness is a nice touch too.

I picked up a bottle of Short's Yosemite Scooter last week for $1.89 at The Lager Mill. I've never had this beer before and this is the first time it's been bottled, I'm interested to see how this one turns out, so lets see how it goes. No visible bottling date, but I know it's fresh. Poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a imperial pint glass.

A- The label looks nice. it's got Joe Short looking like Yosemite Sam and I think it's pretty eye catching. It poured a slightly hazy golden yellow color that took on more of a golden amber color when held to the light with two fingers worth of white head that died down to a thin ring that stayed till the end and it left some nice spotty lacing behind. This was a pretty good looking beer, I have no complaints.

S- The aroma starts off with a slightly higher amount of medium sweetness followed by the hops being the first to stick out and they impart a very light floral and piney hop aroma with some nice fruity hops sticking out the most with some tropical and juicy fruit aromas with some strawberry and other berry like aromas showing up. Up next comes the malts which impart a biscuit, light bready, light grainy and toasted malt aromas with the toasted and biscuit malt aromas sticking out the mist and there's a light nutty aroma toward the end. This beer had a very nice aroma, I liked the hop profile and the malt base. plus the balance was pretty good, it almost smells like a lighter version of strawberry shorts cake without the creamy milk sugar aspect.

T- The taste seems to be fairly similar to the aroma, but lighter and it starts off with a slightly higher amount of medium sweetness followed by the hops showing up first and they impart all the aspects that I got in the aroma, but this time they are much more balanced, but the fruity hops stick out slightly more then the rest and the hops impart a higher amount of medium bitterness that is right on the border of being highly bitter. Up next comes the malts which impart those same malty aspects that they did in the aroma with the biscuit and toasted malts still sticking out the most and there's still a light nutty aspect. On the finish there's some lingering bitterness that sticks around for a little bit along with a toasted and biscuit malt aftertaste. This was a nice tasting beer, but I thought the bitterness was a little high and it lingered a little too long for a Pale Ale.

M- A little smooth, clean, crisp, on the slightly lighter side of being medium bodied with a medium amount of carbonation. The mouthfeel was nice and pretty true to style, but I wish it was a little smoother.

Overall I thought this was a nice beer and nice example of an American Pale Ale, it had a nice hop profile with a good and noticeable malt base that provided some good balance to this beer, but I thought that the higher amount of bitterness made this beer a little rough around the edges and it held this beer back from being as good as it could be. This beer had ok drinkability, it was a little smooth, clean, crisp, not too filling, and the taste did a nice job of holding my attention, but the higher bitterness would prevent me from drinking more than one and I don't think that I could session it. What I liked the most about this beer was the aroma it was pretty good and I thought the hop profile was really nice and the appearance was pretty good also. What I liked the least about this beer was the higher amount of bitterness, I think it would help this beer out and make it a little more true to style if the bitterness was toned down a little. I might buy another bottle before it's all gone, but I don't think I'll be getting a six pack anytime soon. I don't think I would highly recommend this beer but if you like your Pale Ales to be pretty bitter than this is worth trying. All in all I thought this was a pretty solid beer and I think with a couple changes it could be a really good Pale Ale, it needs just a little bit of work. This isn't my favorite or least favorite Short's beer. This is the second of the four Pale Ales that Short's is releasing every quarter and so far I think I liked Chatterbox a little bit more. Nice job guys, keep it up.
