Picked this up in May 2014 on the Midwest reunion trip.
Pours an amber and orange like color indicative of a higher degree of malt for this double/triple ipa. Good amount of bittering hops and caramel present in the aroma. Getting a devil dancer vibe out of this one at this point of the experience.
Taste brings much of the same, bittering hops and caramel, but thankfully a little less sting than devil dancer. Pine joins grapefruit. Sticky dense malt heft. Rumors of tropical fruit have been overstated. Everything about the beer seems to land in between devil dancer and hopslam. This is their version of those beers (triple ipa) basically. Whereas the coasts seem to put out drier, lighter bodies tipas, these midwest ones are beefy enough to keep you warmer and fuller in the winter. Cool to have once, and I would probably buy a 4/6 pack just to have the cool cardboard art, but other than that, its kind of a style of beer that is a shout out to the past, but not something I pine (hehehe) for these days.

Poured into a 9oz snifter.
Poured amber/dark orange/Carmel in color with a small off white head. Left lacing with every sip.
Smells hoppy as expected from a DIPA, a bit of Carmel malt and piney.
Taste very smooth, abv well hidden. Carmel notes, piney and citrus.
Mouth feel is very smooth, moderate carbonation.
Overall this is a great DIPA. Glad I got to try it and I would seek it out again. 10/10 would smash this again.

Outstanding double IPA. Nice balance of sweetness and bitterness. Very smooth. Great orange color and head. My favorite Shorts IPA.

12oz bottle from the hoppy holidays pack.
Appearance- from a hardy pour it's a transparent copper color with an off white head. leaves some solid lacing.
Aroma- biscuit with some pineapple and citrus (tangerine and orange) notes. more heavily citrus with some light pineapple.
Taste- definitely get the flavor from the smell. alcohol is quite noticeable and the bitterness is there. nothing crazy tho. there's something hiding in the flavor of this brew. maybe like a funky bubblegum note or something. maybe it's just me.
Mouthfeel- medium/ heavy bodied. good carbonation. pretty solid.
Drinkability- they should bottle this once a year.
Overall- being a hophead and not into tropical ipa's this beer isnt' too shabby. for a double "hopstache" which is supposedly brewed with grapefruit juice I don't get a huge grapefruit blast. do get a citrusy taste with some biscuit malt action to back it up. tastes like a short's ipa. I don't wanna b#tch about short's but all their ipa's have this same unique taste. nothing out of this world but a pretty good ipa.

Stache Bender, DIPA. 10.4% ABV, 77 IBU. Pineapple, mango, citrus nose with just a touch of booze. Tropical fruit and lemon zesty flavor with a solid biscuit /caramel malt backing it up. Pretty amazing feel, a bit fuller than expected, slick.
