Power of Love is full of sweetly herb-filled aromas, and takes your mouth on a ride from sweet lemon flavor to a shock of tart raspberry before disappearing entirely from your palate. An incredible beverage adventure worthy of time travel.

January 2023 Seasonal Release - 6 pack
12 oz. can dated 011723 (01/17/23) - 3.0% ABV / 20 IBU
Brewed and canned in Elk Rapids, MI
Poured into a Bell's branded nonic pint glass

Look - Pours a thin and fizzy white head. Clear, golden yellow appearance with a nice amount of streaming bubbles.
Smell - The scent is mostly a mixture of lemon and raspberry with rosemary faintly in the background.
Taste - The taste follows the nose with a slight tartness. The aftertaste has some honey maltiness, but it's subtle.
Feel - Medium bodied with a crisp and tart mouthfeel and finishes with no dryness.
Overall - Very delicious combination of flavors. The rosemary mixes well with the fruits making for quite a quenchable beverage.

Reminds me of a raspberry lemonade. Bottle art definitely adds style points

Nice but a little too sweet for me, and not enough tartness or complexity. Nice pink almost rose-like color, minimal head and no lacing. Smells of raspberry and a hint of lemon. Tastes of raspberry, citrus, malt and a little vanilla. Really a little too sweet but not cloying. Smooth finish, very mild mouthfeel. Decent carbonation. Not really my style.

A - Copper color, with a reddish cast, clear, minimal head and no real lacing.

S - Raspberry, with a hint of ranberries, and a strong lactic element.

T - Sweet open, a bit of candied fruit, then a sharper acidity comes forth in the close.

M - Sticky with low carbonation, but the finish is crisp enough to scrub it clean.

O - I was not thrilled by the flavor profile, but it grew on me over time. Pleasant.

Sweeter than my tastes usually run, but expected for a shandy. Neither the raspberry or lemon overpowers the other or the neutral crispness of the ale. Pink color makes it feel like some kind of summery sparkling wine. Admittedly I mostly bought it to keep the package.

seems like more lemonada than beer in this blend, but its super summery, low alcohol, and drinkable, especially in hot weather. also very interesting in flavors, the raspberry, the lemon, and the rosemary are all quite evident in the aroma and the flavor, and although like some other shorts beers ive had recently, its lacking grain substance of any consequence, i still really like this one. the raspberry is both sweet and tangy, as is the lemon, which gives this sort of the best of both worlds, not too sour to be drinkable at all, but a nice refreshing pucker to cut the sweet, still, i think they could dial back the perceived sweetness just a little bit here and make an even more refreshing beer. the rosemary is the part i wanted to taste, and its right there, nice with the fruit, playing up the wheat base a little bit too it seems, but not being too essential oily or intense, it doesnt linger any longer than any other element, and its very well dosed here. awesome carbonation but a little thin on the body. tasty and inventive beer, which is what i know these guys for, not as refined as it could be, but its pretty darn good in the summertime!

Well damn at 3% this is going to go down easy. Into a pint glass

Well looks like a rather clear purple color with a 1/2 inch of froth that sticks around for quite a bit. Smell is kind of bland the mix of rosemary and lemonade give a sort of powdered lemonade smell. Raspberry is faint. Taste is much better sour lemonade goodness meets a bit of raspberry sourness. Body is crisp and clean I could easily pound a six pack no problem.

Overall a very tasty summer ale I would get again!

I picked up a bottle of Short's Power Of Love at The Lager Mill. I've had many different styles from Short's, but I don't think I've ever had a Shandy from them before, so lets see how it goes. 2017 Vintage. Poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a imperial pint glass.

A- The label looks nice, it's a nice back to the future reference and it's a little eye catching. It poured a pale orange and pink color that took on more of a pink hue when held to the light and it had a little over half a fingers worth of fizzy off white head that died down to a thin ring that eventually faded away and it left pretty much no lacing behind. This is a pretty nice looking beer, but I wish the head retention and lacing were better.

S- The aroma starts off with a higher amount of medium sweetness with the rosemary being the first to show up and it imparts a typical rosemary aroma that goes right into the raspberries which are a little lighter than rosemary, but still noticeable. Up next comes the lemonade that has a nice fresh squeezed lemonade like aroma to it with just a slight grainy aroma showing up towards the end. This beer has a good aroma, it's pretty much what I would expect from the style and it's more complex than most.

T- The taste seems to be similar to the aroma, but a little less balanced and it's starts off with a higher amount of sweetness with the raspberry being the first to show up and along with the lemonade they are the aspects that stick out the most with them both imparting the same aspects that they did in the aroma. Up next comes the rosemary which is lighter than it was in the aroma and it's just a little noticeable. Towards the end there's pretty much no malty flavors and on the finish there's not bitterness with lots of sweetness taking it's place. This is a nice tasting shandy, but it's too sweet for me.

M- A little smooth, a little refreshing, cloying, a little sticky, on the slightly thicker side of being medium bodied with a slightly lower amount of carbonation. The mouthfeel is nice, but I wish it was smoother and not cloying.

Overall I thought this was a decent beer and it's a solid example of the style, it's not bad and I like the lemon and raspberry flavors, but the sweetness is too overpowering and it takes away from the other aspects. This beer didn't have the best drinkability, one is more than enough for me, it's just too sweet to drink that much of. What I like the most about this beer is the aroma, it was good and well balanced. What I like the least about this beer is the sweetness, it was too high and it reminded me a little of how sweet a mikes hard lemonade is. I wouldn't buy this beer again and I think I would turn it down, I can't say I would recommend it, it's not hard to find a better shandy. All in all I see what they were going for with this beer, but in the end the sweetness holds it back for me. This is one of my least favorite Short's beers that I've had recently and it's a solid example of the style. Better luck next time guys, this one just isn't for me.
