Notes & Commercial Description:
Beer added by: arizcards on 06-13-2004

Named after the hop flower Humulus Lupulus, this India Pale Ale style beer has enormous amounts of hop bitterness, flavor and aroma. With a very complex malt bill, flavors seem to meld with the hops to balance this ale and provide a ridiculous urge to sample more.

Had this one on tap at Hopcat.

A- Pours a hazy orangish red with a nice fluffy white head that left a good amount of layered lacing.

S- Citrus and pine hop aroma. A bit of caramel malt in the background.

T- Taste of citrus and piney hops with a good resiny taste and balanced out with a bready malt taste.

M- Medium to full in body. Nice and oily finish.

D- High for this IPA as it is nearly perfectly balanced between malt and hop.

A: pours a slightly hazy orange with a half finger head. Large bubbles become a fine lacing later on.

S: huge floral, citrus, pine, and bitter smell. Some sweet maltiness ensues.

T: the instant it hits my tongue I get malt, then it goes directly to bitterness, then citrus and pine, and finally it leaves a thin pale malt aftertaste with a hint of sweetness. Nope, it's not done. The bitterness and hops hang forever. Really lasting flavors.

M: initially carbonated, then smooths a bit with time in the mouth. Finishes crisp, but coats the tongue for a lasting tasteful finish.

O: excellent IPA. I'm an IPA person from Michigan, and I can't believe I never tried this before this year. Good thing I picked it up at Meijer's.
