Notes/Commercial Description:
Named after the hop flower Humulus Lupulus, this India Pale Ale style beer has enormous amounts of hop bitterness, flavor and aroma. With a very complex malt bill, flavors seem to meld with the hops to balance this ale and provide a ridiculous urge to sample more.

A: Pours a fairly hazy coppery orange with a 1.5 finger yellowish head. The head dies rather quickly, but what stays leaves nice lacing down entire glass.

S: Aroma is dominated by citrus and piney hops with some malt.

T: Tastes follows the smell with citrus and piney hops with some malty sweetness in the middle. The drink finishes with a nice bitter bite at the end!

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes dry which makes you beg for more.

D: Very drinkable beer. This beer truly exceeded my expectations; I will have to pick up a few more before I leave MI!

Had on-tap at HopCat in Grand Rapids, MI.

Poured an amber/copper color with a little bit of haze. Not much head to speak of, but it was consistent throughout leaving good lacing.

Smells of bitter hops, some citrus notes and pine. A good whiff left a slight burning sensation in the nostrils. This beers is about the hops.

Hop flavors come through as well with a bitter taste showing off the IBUs. Perhaps some of the alcohol is showing on this pour as well. Fairly dry in the mouth as well.

Overall, a very good IPA that focuses on the hop bitterness and does well doing so.

Appearance: standard IPA appearance. Golden-rod with slight haziness. Moderate head with decent amount of lacing.

Smell: the smell (and taste) of hops absolutely dominate this beer, for better or worse.

Taste: This beer has really been a grower, but anyone who loves IPAs for the bitterness and hops should definitely check this one out. I wouldn't particularly recommend the beer for someone not accustomed to very bitter beers, or strong IPAs.

Mouthfeel: A very drinkable beer. The bitterness lingers for a while, but isn't problematic for anyone used to that feeling. Smooth and freshing, a great summer beer. This is also a great beer to pair with a hearty dinner.

Got this in a trade.

Very nice Golden orange color with a thin white head.

Fantastic floral hops smell that is balanced well with the caramel hops.

The taste is almost the same as the smell. It really is well balanced IPA. It hides the 6.6% very well.

For an IPA this is quite smooth, not to light.

I would have no problem drinking a couple of these.

A very bitter and hoppy India Pale Ale. Leaves a bit of a hoppy aftertaste which characterizes many IPAs. Golden hazy orangish color when poured with a white head. This beer has a hint of grapefruit which is overpowered by the hops. There is minimal malt presence. Overall, I would highly reccomend this beer by Shorts

Probably may favorite India pale ale. It is very well balanced with a great hoppy taste that complements many types of dinners. A lot of IPAs taste the same to me, but this one tends to stand out and the creative name probably helps. I tend to prefer this in the summer even over fruiter and lighter beers.
