The color is a very dark brown, just the very slightest light making it in. A somewhat spritzy, moderately tight medium brown head begins at just less than half a finger and fades a bit quickly but leaves behind decent patching and spotting.
The aroma has a certain steeliness to it with a tang and a bit of cocoa. Some wheat makes for a sort of dry, cracker-like element.
Chocolate comes out much more in the flavor, and more tangibly over the wheat. It's rich and sweet as well as powdery. The base is malty with just a hint of roast. Chalk and a light tanginess lie gently underneath.
The medium body holds a semi-dry feel with a hint of char that goes dryer. The end is gently ashy and, overall, the beer is crisp without biting too hard and runs smoothly on the tongue.

12 fl. oz. bottle
Served in a weizen glass

A - This beer pretty much looks black. It is capped with an inch of mocha head.

S - I get some cocoa and dark chocolate.

T - The taste is more focused on the dark chocolate. I get some milk chocolate intermittently. I slight unsweetened chocolate finish.

M - Medium

O - It's a pretty tasty brew. I would not hesitate to buy it again.

Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a pint glass. Bottled 1/29/14

A- Pours a dark chocolate with a medium brown head.

S- Dark chocolate, light dark coffee, light dark fruit, slight alcohol.

T- Similar to aroma, dark chocolate, dark coffee, pretty strait forward porter. Tastes kinda like a mini version of Publican Porter.

M- Here is where you notice the wheat. It has both a medium heavy porter mouthfeel at the beginning then ends light like a hefe-wiezen.

O- A pretty decent take on the style. The wheat kinda makes it an easier to drink porter compared to say Founders or Edmund Fitzgerald.

A - Pours a deep black with a thin tan head.

S - Roasted malts, sweet chocolate, and a light coffe aroma.

T - Lots of dark roasted malts with a good amount of dark chocolate. There is a nice hop kick in the finish.

M - Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Dry finish.

O - Very smooth and easy drinking porter. Would recommend.

Bottle into snifter

Appearance - Black with about 1/2 finger mocha colored head, not much lacing.

Smell - Plums, Sweet milk chocolate, fudge and slight grain that produces a blanketed roastiness.

Taste - Roasty. Dark bitter chocolate, spent coffee, subtle smokiness towards the middle and end.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, medium carbonation.

Overall - Good beer. Bought this as a single to try out and it's not bad. Good morning/breakfast beer if that is what you like.

Served in a snifter.

A: Pours a opaque black color with a ephemeral mocha colored, thin head that dissipates expediently leaving minimal lacing.

S: Smells of cocoa, wheat, barley, malts

T: Mellow flavor. Wheat, barley, chocolate predominate.

M: Full bodied beer with ample amounts of carbonation, giving a substantial yet crisp feel.

O: Overall this was pretty good darker wheat beer. Short's continues to raise the bar.
