On tap at Churchkey. Served in a snifter.

Pours a dark brown color with a thin off-white head. Slight lacing and a thin collar throughout. The nose brings some light chocolate and a slight amount of roasted malt. Nothing too complex, but it's pretty good. The flavor is along the same lines. There is a bit of intermingling of chocolate flavors, with both milk and dark chocolate coming through. Along with that is some slight roast, which comes through in a slight bitterness in the finish. Medium body and low carbonation. Not bad.

Black, opaque and some tan froth where brew meets the glass. The nose is of coffee, chocolate and roasted malts. Maybe a touch of vanilla? I can taste the chocolate, coffee, vanilla and roasted flavors. It takes me back to my first homebrewed porter. Not really getting any wheat at all. Mouthfeel is medium and nicely carbonated. A solid take on a porter, but not sure if I get the wheat.

A - Poured into a pint glass, pours a dark brown/black, with a very warm brown head about one finger high. Head dissipates quickly, leaving almost no lacing.

S - Very malty, roasted/burnt smelling with hints of chocolate. I'm not picking up any hops.

T - Very roasty malts with a bit of hoppy balance... it's a porter, alright. Sadly, the chocolate I was hoping for is there more as an afterthought than an integral part of this brew. It's only noticeable in a faint cocoa bitter near the finish.

M - Pretty standard dry finish. Mild carbonation.

O - Pretty standard fare for a porter, but a little disappointing for what I was expecting. I always look forward to these kind of Short's brews, but it could have had a bit more on the chocolate side. Not a bad porter, though.

Thanks to nflmvp for this one. Freshly "growled".

It pours a nearly black brew with a thin tan head that dissipates rather quickly.
Nice aroma, sweetish with chocolate and caramel, some wheat note, little roasted malts to be noticed.
It is quite thin on the palate, despite an overall nice taste including wheat, chocolate, some roasted malts, here lacking some punch with roasted bitterness, but I guess this was not their intention. Minimal of that sourness described by others.
It has become increasingly clear that Short's brewmasters' and my palate does not agree very well.

A - Black in color with a chocolate frothy head.

S - Roasty malt aroma with hints of chocolate.

T - A very mild roasty malt flavor, hint of coffee and a hint of chocolate.

M - light to medium bodied.

O - A very mild tasting porter. Almost a cross between a brown ale and a porter. But overall a pretty good beer.

A - This beer pours a very dark brown with a very thin head that seemed to dissipate rather quickly.

S - The aroma was that of chocolate and wheat of course. There were also notes of caramel, toffee, and even some citrus.

T - It tastes of sweet and roasty malts. There is also some wheat, caramel, chocolate, and some toffee. It had a dry finish. I didn't think of this much as a porter when drinking it. It's a different interpretation of the style as to what I'm used to.

M - Medium body with smooth carbonation. I thought that it went down pretty smooth and had a creamy quality to it.

D - I think this is a pretty drinkable beer. It was creamy and went down smooth. Its pretty good and pretty different than other beers that I've had. I would try this one again

The color is a very dark brown, just the very slightest light making it in. A somewhat spritzy, moderately tight medium brown head begins at just less than half a finger and fades a bit quickly but leaves behind decent patching and spotting.
The aroma has a certain steeliness to it with a tang and a bit of cocoa. Some wheat makes for a sort of dry, cracker-like element.
Chocolate comes out much more in the flavor, and more tangibly over the wheat. It's rich and sweet as well as powdery. The base is malty with just a hint of roast. Chalk and a light tanginess lie gently underneath.
The medium body holds a semi-dry feel with a hint of char that goes dryer. The end is gently ashy and, overall, the beer is crisp without biting too hard and runs smoothly on the tongue.
