I'm not a huge brown ale drinker, but I do like my malty beers and Short's is a great brewery, so having one of these was a no-brainer.
Deep brown pour with a light head on top. Nose is biscuity caramel with some roasted chocolate on the side. Nothing particularly strong, but pleasant. The flavour continues that basic theme: as advertised this is a smooth caramel and light baker's chocolate focused beer that does without the intrusion of hops. Medium bodied, easy to drink.
The bottom line: If you're a brown ale fan then this should be on your try list. Short's has put together a smooth, enjoyable take on the style that will likely please fans of the style.

I had not heard of this brewery until a buddy of mine from Michigan brought me a few bottles.
Appearance is --- shockingly --- brown; with a tan medium head and persistent lacing. Held up to bright light, it's a dense ruby red.
Aroma is chocolate, caramel and toasted malt with a whiff of floral hops.
Taste is a lot of toasted malt followed by a mild, caramel sweetness. Very mild hop bitterness and just a hint of ethanol. Smooth as Billy Dee.
Medium body with light carbonation.
Overall, this is a fantastic brown ale. Smooth malty goodness.
