12oz bottle picked up from Binny's after Short's stop at the Craft Brewers Conference.
A: Pours out a clear and deep ruby brown with a two inch, tight and foamy sandy white head. Head manages to hold itself up for a few moments until subsiding into a cap while at the same time leaving behind traces of sticky tan lacing.
S: Rich and toasty with a nice balance of sweet brown sugary and caramel maltiness, but beyond the first few sips and sniffs I'm really not getting any more out of this beer. Pound for pound Bell's Best Brown has got this one beat in the aroma department.
T/MF: Opens smooth and sweet with only edges of bitterness. Beer is sort of buttery and bits of dusty of espresso. Finish is soft and sweet with a touch of tobacco, molasses, and walnuts. Mouthfeel is, didn't I say it already? Smooth. Slick almost greasy on the tongue as is slides ever so easily to my stomach.
D: Pretty solid beer. Really like what is going in with the sweet and toastiness of the malt bill on this beer, well balanced in the hop department but malty enough to keep from drying you out but hoppy enough to keep things from getting too slick and sloppy.
