Pours a nice, lively head. Color is a light amber/yellow Smell is pretty thin as well, not to say that it's extremely lacking, but it just doesn't have a lot of big stand out characteristics to it.
First sip is...wow, this beer is bitter. Very very bitter. But not in a really hoppy IPA way. Mouthfeel is quite corrosive, and a bit unbalanced as it comes off.
One of the most profound examples of what Short's is capable of. Still, this one seems a bit on the bleeding edge.

Notes from 5/1/11; 12 oz 2011 release
A - Pours golden/honey brown with one finger of white head that dissipates quickly to a collar. Very little lacing.
S - Smell is slightly sweet malts with some faint bitter aroma. Simple and good.
T - Taste starts sweet, but quickly transitions to a crisp bitterness, which lingers for awhile.
M - Medium, somewhat slick mouthfeel with a bitter dryness on the tongue.
O - Very nice imperial pilsner. More bitter than I was expecting, but crisp and delicious.

Thanks to thirdeye11 for sharing this bottle.
The beer pours a yellow color with a white head. The aroma has a lot of pilsner malt, with some grass thrown in. The flavor is more of the same. I get a ton of the lighter pilsner and biscuit malt, as well as some grass and floral hop notes. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Thanks to erric for hooking this up!
A-piss yellow with a fine white head. There was a little yeast in the bottle that made it's way into the beer, making it hazy
S-herbal hops with a weird dishwater soap perfume
T-very bitter with a a long oily lingering finish. The bready malt is a little sweet but finishes dry.
M-soft, not enough carbonation for me. Alcohol manifests later as the beer warms
O-good, a little excessive. not my favorite.

Very thickly clouded, the curl is a dense-looking yellow-gold, translucent on the one hand because of the murkiness and the other due to the paler color. The head , clean white, reaches one finger, and it's tight. It shows a rocky density and good retention, and it leaves lace starting thickly from the very top down.
The smell showcases pilsner malts with familiar earthy, grassy, dusty, herbal and sulfuric notes. It has a sort of raw dankness to it.
Whoa...the dankness in the aroma makes up the main aspect of the flavor. My tongue definitely registers a certain very dank weed found in nature that itself has a kind of sulfuric note. Earth, grass and bitter herb come in, the herb bringing a dryness and bitterness into the finish, as well as a woody sort of pith.
The body might slip into the medium range but doesn't get too heavy. Dryness cuts in partway through to finish it out. Crispness is firm and stays all the way through. The only issue is that it could be a little cleaner at the end of the sip.

Golden yellow, about a finger of head, nice lacing as it goes down. Completely transparent. Steady stream of carbonation from the bottom to top. Hoppy and yeasty smell. Great bitter taste that finishes clean with a touch of sweetness. Mouthfeel is light and airy. I really like this beer. This is a Shorts beer that I will buy more than one 6 pack. Spring is a perfect time of year for this beer. After a season of drinking dark heavies, this is very welcome. I wonder if this is the base beer for the Spruce Pilsner?

A- pours a light golden color with a finger and a half of fluffy white head. a solid looking color for the style
S- smells like a pilsner should. the hops really bring this one to life in a way that i wish some macro's could pull off.
T- if other pilsners tasted like this I would be a much bigger fan of the style. the hops are pronounced but not overwhelming. this would be a great beer to introduce a craft beer skeptic to new possibilities.
M- light enough to be refreshing but substantial enough to let you know it's there.
O- i was a little leery of this one because of my lack of experience with the style and my overall opinion of the brewery. despite these factors I was surprisingly impressed by this beer. this beer takes the style that most beer drinkers started with and makes it something they can now be proud of. nice work shorts.

Poured from 12oz bottle. Many thanks to gratefulbeerhead for this beer!
A- Pours a pale golden yellow color. One and a half finger white head shows light retention. Light streaks of lace left on the glass.
S- I could pick up on bready pils malts, grain, and high alcohol in the front of the nose right off the bat. The alcohol mixes well with floral hops but lends to a scent that I was not the biggest fan of. The ending showed off some wet grain and lots of alcohol. Hints of tropical fruit linger in the ending as well but are cut off by the alcohol.
T- Floral hops in the front with a nice dose of grain. Middle of the beer shows off a big bready pils malt flavor. There is grassy note to the ending along with more bready malts. Grain and alcohol hit hte enidng of the beer with a trailing floral hop behind it. Plain and simple but to the point and big!
M- Medium heavy mouthfeel. Carbonation was good for the style. Huge amounts of grain and bready malts are left on the palate along with a light sulfer like taste. Aftertaste is lots of warming alcohol, hints of hops, and a boatload of pils malt. Flavors were bold at times but very well balanced. No off flavors when sipping this one. Heavy alcohol drying on the palate with this one!
O- This beer kicked my ass which I told Andrew (betsona) when we were drinking it. The malts were a little over the top at times but nicely done. The style itself was a little messy at times but then again I never realized why a lot of brewers are doing this as a style. Not a typical Short's beer and therefore I don't know how I really feel about it.
