Cup A Joe Coffee Creme Stout uses Higher Grounds roasted fair trade espresso beans in every facet of the brewing process. Prominent aromatics of malt, espresso, and cocoa are abundant, and there are robust flavors of cream and coffee. This is the perfect morning night capper.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a mini imperial pint glass. Pours a nice inky black that finishes with a finger of mocha colored foam. Initial smells are reminiscent of an iced coffee.
Sweetness is instantly noticeable upon sipping. The milk sugar flavor combines with the malt to make almost a foamy consistency and slight chocolate richness similar to a latte. This transitions to stronger coffee flavors eventually tasting like a black cup of coffee. Some sweetness with the coffee flavors linger on the tongue between sips.
In the world of coffee stouts, this is a really nice one. It's smooth and creamy and the transitions are well done to the point where this is a beer latte more than just coffee flavored beer. The milk sugar is done excellently, it does more to diversify and enhance the flavor profile rather than to just provide "sweetness". Again, this one wins as being much more than tasting like just a stout with coffee.

Brewed in collaboration with Higher Ground Coffee.
Bottled 10/31/16; drank 12/10/16 @ the Yarchives.
Black/brown appearance.
A rough pour yielded a nice dark khaki head; strong lace.
Burnt black coffee & mild vanilla notes in the nose.
Medium thick mouthfeel.
Burnt black coffee flavor up front; mildly sweet cream notes on the finish. Drinkable, but not a good example of the style. Pass.

Still prefer Founder’s breakfast stout as a smooth yet bold coffee stout this time of year, but Cup of Joe is close behind.

12oz bottle, served in a snifter glass. Pours a dark cola brown body, nearly black, one finger mocha head, fair retention and a bit of lacing. Smell is espresso, a slight bit of roasted coffee bean, dark chocolate bitterness, a bit of cocoa and slight lactose. Flavour follows; a touch of lactose sweetness behind a strong espresso, dark chocolate squares, coffee bean and a bit of cocoa astringency. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, appropriately carbonated, a mix of lactose and dark chocolate on the finish.
