Local's Light is classic American Lager crafted by Joe Short in 2004 to be “beer in its simplest form”. It’s a bright yellow beer with effervescent aromatics of fresh malted barley and lager yeast. Local’s Light has soft and subtle flavors of malt that finish crisp and clean that’s perfectly balanced for smooth and easy drinkability.

Very light clear color with good carbonation. No much on he nose, slightly citrus, bread. Taste is easy going with malty, very slight hoppiness, slight bitterness on the finish. Very water mouthfeel. Better tasting than 99% of the micro brews, with a great price point. 5.2% alcohol for a light beer, not bad. 115 calories is on the edge of light beers.

One of my favorite Light Lagers. The price point is great, usually $13.99 for a 12 pack. When I can find it near me, I'm buying it. Slighty citrusy & malty, with a hint of hops, and a smooth finish. A nice everyday drinker.

Look is light yellow and clear. Smell is light malt. Taste is even and medium bodied. Feel is medium. Overall, a medium bodied light lager and great example of the style. More flavorful and less sweet than most light lagers. Doesn’t have the sweet corn taste of macro beers.

12oz can

Shorts Local’s Light filled my mug with a clear golden hue and produced a 1 ½ finger off-white foam. Light aromas of corn and bread are noted by the nose. The taste is very similar to the nose. The flavor of corn is dominate with only slight amount of hops noted. Mouthfeel is light with a moderate amount of carbonation.

Overall, Local’s Light seems to be a little fuller in taste than your average light lager.

Clear golden body with a finger of white foam. Cereal malt aromas. Taste has playful citrus and a hint of apple notes added. Feel is light and malty but not crisp, kind of flat. Not much to this one, but that is kind of the idea. Still there are other light lagers I would recommend with more satisfying crispness

It's fine, avoid the overly negative comments. It's got a decent malt character, it just needs more balancing IBU's. I mean they managed to get it down to 115 calories with an ABV of 5.2, which is a hell of a lot more than the lager it's based on. That's a pretty decent feat considering it's all-malt and there's no alcohol burn whatsoever.

L: Pours a very pale straw yellow with a small white head and no lacing on the glass.

S: Light and crisp aroma, notes of sweet apple, a touch of grain and light hop. Smells like a light beer.

T: Tastes like a light beer, some grain and light sweetness but nothing very special.

F: Light crisp and very easy drinking.

O: A very average light lager.

draft pour into a standard pint glass. pours your typical lager with a clearer straw gold body with a finger of white foam atop it. decent looking beer but it’s fairly bland on the nose and taste. get some grains and a bit of lager yeast. i’m not sure how this is branded as “light” as it’s 5.2% and it drinks fairly heavy. a little misleading i’d say.. but it’s not a bad beer just not anything great. it’ll do in a pinch though.

Low expectations, but high hopes. Will this become my new lager go-to? Nah. It’s thin and watery, with little in the way of aroma or taste. All grain does not mean flavorful, unfortunately.

Yup. Just about as light as they come. Clear pale straw yellow, short head to nuthin' almost immediately. Grassy hops on the nose. Watery taste and mouthfeel. Nothing off about it, but nothing interesting either. Except maybe that my can reads 5.2 ABV which is not really that light. No hint of the alcohol as you drink though. Neat trick. Suitable for mindlessly pounding back I suppose.

You know, I like light beers. My ratings are based on personal preference and beer is subjective. And I rate beers based on a mix of both my personal preference and whether or not its good for its style.
Now based off how this is marketed on its description and its name and style, it tastes nothing like what it seems. A bit misleading. I don't know what I would put it under exactly, it tastes like something I've had before, but not a "Lager - Light".
Tastes like bananas to me. Anyway, I am disappointed as I expected something different than what it advertises. And even if it was listed in its correct style, I wouldn't like it, but I wouldn't be as harsh on the rating.

For what this is, this is a great beer. This beer is not meant to contend with your typical Shorts Brewing Company beer or any other typical craft beer for that matter... It is meant to compete with Budweiser, PBR, Miller HIgh Life, Old Style, Coors... In this regard Short's Locals Light is a much better option. I can get Shorts Locals Light at Super One market in Iron Mountain for $10.99 a 12 pack...This is cheaper than Budweiser but is much, much better. It says light on the can but it contends with regular mass produced American lagers. ... Budweiser is 5%, and Shorts Locals light is 5.2%... and is an all-grain beer guys. Anheuser-Busch uses rice...All the Wisconsin made American lagers use corn...this is an all grain beer guys! And in my view, taste much better. I recommend this beer for any occasion in which large quantities of beer are going to be consumed, or for your regular everyday refrigerator beer. I believe it is a good option that would be satifactory for both craft brew lovers as well as your typical "American mass-produced beer consumer" alike. For the price, just opt for the Northern Michigan produced Shorts Locals light next time! Trust me you'll notice the difference after your first couple 12-packs....

Picked up a 12-pack of cans at Total Wine in Nashville. $12.49

I’ve been looking for a micro-brewed low carb beer with some decent ABV. This comes in at 3g’s of carbs. 5.2% ABV. This fits the bill, nicely.

For what its target is and its classification, I don’t think you’ll find a better beer.
