Appearance: a deep orangish, with some yellowish hints. very murky and no clarity, small tannish head that sits around for a long time. very good looking beer
Smell: ginger is strong as soon as i popped the top. upon smelling closer i find bubblegum, clove, a spiciness that i assume comes from the rye. for being able to smell ginger instantly i am surprised to find that much complexity in the smell
Taste: strong ginger up front but it gives way to spicy, peppery rye, bubblegum, clove and other yeasty flavors. unbelievably complex and delicious. You can definitely taste the hefeweizen side to it along with the special ginger and rye addition
Mouthfeel: drinkable and medium bodied. the spicy rye gives it a slight warmth. the ginger and rye leave a pretty bitter aftertaste. The only flaw i find in this beer is the lingering bitterness. I'd prefer if it was more refreshing and finished sweet or dry
Overall: wow. This is easily one of my favorite beers. I usually like shorts experimental beers but this one is killer. everything is so wonderfully done and complex. its very drinkable and the alchohol is pretty well hidden. wish this one would stick around for a little while longer.
