Pours reddish brown with a yellow-cream colored had that dissipates to just a ring. No lace.
Toasted malt and tart fruit, raisins in the nose. Some brown bread as well. I like the nose on this alot; quite different.
Toasted malt, to the point of bitter, is the dominant flavor here. You may smell some fruit but it is gone. Over-browned toast, dark bread, and true earthy flavors. Some wood. This one starts bitter and stays there. It works.
Medium bodied, but decent carbonation. Some prickliness on the tongue.
A pub sipper. You can't blast thru this, and this is not a thirst quencher. Not a match really for food either. Very good and unique.
