On tap at Short's in Bellaire.

AP - Dark Stout with A thin head that disapates quickly after the 1st or second taste and leaves thin lacing.

AR - Bready malt aroma with chocolate coffee undertones.

T - A sweet chocolate start that gives way to slightly oatmeal/pecan finish.

MF - Thin start that does not taste of a dark heavy. Slighty papery.

D - A well done dessert stout that is not over the top. I could drink two and not tire of it.

A- Is a dark chocolate color, with about an inch of light milk chocolate colored head.

S- Can smell the pecans big time, also a lot of sweet node of some sort of fruit (maybe plums) and a nice chocolate aroma.

T- Better than expected. This one has a nice sweet chocolate taste at the front with very little bitter bite if any. Has a nutty flavor in the middle and finishes with a twangy sweet flavor, almost like coffee. Nicely balanced.

M- this one is way lighter than I would of have expected. Has a slick almost chocolate milk feel to it. Very smooth on the palate.

D- This one is a sipper due to the sweetness but a great desert beer and goes great with chocolate cake.

thanks to mike for the growler, poured into a pint glass and enjoyed as i watch a movie with my wife and cat. M.A.C. in full effect.

dark brown in color with a small, very quick head of light tan that left no lacing and hardly anything on top. This was worrisome for me at first as I was afraid it may have been a bit flat, but it was just the look that appeared a bit off. Aroma of deep roasted malts, light smoke and nice chocolate notes start to come through right away. Smooth, even and as it warm relatively unchanged. Light vanilla in here now as I take the first sip. A bit slick, I was expecting a bit fuller feel to it, but the taste still came across nicely. Smokey with nice notes of peat and burnt sugar mixing with a light chocolate and creamy lactose flavor. Nicely done. Each sip seem to get more and more smokey, which was a nice touch and the finish was just dry enough and left just enough sweetness on the tongue to leave me very pleased.

Poured into a Tulip from a 4-day old Growler that was unopened. Part of a three growler tasting between friends during the Sugar Bowl. (Go Blue)

A - Very dark brown / black color pour, roughly a finger of head, minimal lacing.

S - Pecans and Chocolate come through with a hint of Carmel, roasted malts and possibly dark fruits.

T - Very good, had a chocolate taste with pecans up front with a nice and clean roasted malts/carmel finish. The alcohol was masked pretty well.

M - Low carbonation, relatively light for a stout.

D - This was a very good desert beer, my fiance enjoyed it a little more than I did but it was 2nd out of the three. This had a little more drinkability where I wouldnt have to stop at one but certainly too sweet for a session. Very interesting beer from Shorts!
