Had on tap at reno's west in Lansing
A: Pours a clear light straw color with a quarter of white head
S: pineapple and orange with a slight hop aroma. Fruit wine like aromas as well.
T: Initial pineapple and orange taste followed by slight hops. Very light and almost drinks like a fruit wine. Little sourness towards the end.
M: Light and refreshing

Had on tap at the Sunset Grill
Appearance: bright caution light yellow in color, 1/4 inch head, hazy, low carbonation
Smell: pineapple, small orange, and grain
Taste: big dose of Dole pineapple juice and light toasted grains and grass
Mouthfeel: light bodied, medium carbonation, very sweet
Drinkability: My first impression was like this is ok, but midway through and towards the end, I was like damn this is a great beer. I think this is because when I think of Shorts, I like them cause they take good base beers and combine them with different ingredients. This is a classic example. There is no denying the sweet pineapple juice. The baseline pilsner is super drinkable. The net result is a beer that almost drinks like a hefe. A really good beer and one I wish i could get here.

On tap @ the Sunset Grill & Tap (Allston, MA) on 3/11/11. Served in a Pils glass. ABV listed as 5.0%.
Pours a clear pale gold, topped with a thin cap of bright-white foam. This retains with a thin frothy richness that dots the sides of the glass with spotty lacing. The aroma is grassy, lightly spicy, and maybe even a touch leafy. This is layered on top of tart pineapple flavor and juicy smelling sugars. Those Pils malts sit against the back of the nose with a flat yet supportively sweet grainy character.
The taste here is all about the pineapple, which is initially coming off as more along the bitter route with less of the tropical sweetness that you would expect out of the fruit. This is almost more akin to a pithy juiciness that clings to the leafy and grassy hops that are present here. As this warms, some more residual fruity sugars come out to play and work well with the grainy sweetness of the malts to help balance things out on the edges of the profile. In the end though, this definitely leans towards the bitter side though, with the lingering tartness of the pineapple hanging on the tongue for quite a bit. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a firm crispness to the carbonation, yet this has a LOT of underlying oiliness which keeps this silky smooth as well. Really nice feel here to this in the mouth.
Out of the 25 Short's beers on tap here, this was the one that I was most excited for (what can I say, I like pineapples!) and it did not disappoint. The focus on the tartness of the fruit gave this a crisp and thirst-quenching character and I really liked what I felt from the base Pilsner underneath as well. Just overall great stuff here that went down way too easy!
