Had on tap at the brewery. A: Pours a cloudy brown with red hues and a dime of off white head. S Strawberry fruitiness and a small amount of brandy. just a hint of roasted malt. t sweet upfront with strawberries and a hint of brandy. lactose is here in full. mild roasted malt and medicinal taste from the strawberries. it is very hard to use strawberries in beer or wine without the medicinal after taste. I like sweet beers so I enjoyed this.

On tap a the pub. Sounded like one of the more interesting options the day I was there, so, I got it as part of my flight.

A: Murky brownish red color. The pour dropped a soapy head that did not last long and did not leave any lace.

A: The aroma was of sweet berries and brandy. The alcohol was very prominent, but IMO did not overpower the brew as a whole. I get notes of sweet caramel and vanilla, with no hop presence.

T: Very sweet red berries with the brandy. The brandy is heavy, but again, I don't think it overpowers the brew. More notes of caramel and vanilla with a nice oakey finish.

M: Full body, lower on the carbonation which makes it a little slick.

O: Not sure why others have been disapointed with this, I really enjoyed it. It is rather sweet and has a ton of brandy flavor, but I like brandy and I like sweetness. I couldn't have many, but one was alright by me. Skal.

On draft at Churchkey in D.C.

The beer appears a dark brown color, with a small, light tan head that leaves some decent lacing in its wake.

The aroma is really powerful, with alcohol leading the charge. Strawberries and a general sweetness are in there as well.

The flavor brings a heavy dose of alcohol, cloying sweetness, some lactose. Ow. This is pretty hot. Tastes more like 15% abv. Strawberry Short's Cake is a fabulous beer, and one of my favorites from this brewery. This concoction, however, falls way short of the mark.

The feel is creamy, if you can get past the alcohol and cloying sweetness.

Overall, not a repeat. It was hard to finish my small snifter.

A: The beer is very dark amber (near black) in color and poured with a thin ring of bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: There are light to moderate aromas of lactose and strawberries in the nose.
T: The taste is very similar to the smell and has some hints of brandy in the finish.
M: It feels medium-bodied, smooth and somewhat syrupy on the palate with a light amount of carbonation.
O: The beer is a slow sipper and doesn’t go down very easily. I had a tough time finishing my glass.

On tap at Churchkey. Served in a snifter.

Pours a dark brown color with a very thin light tan head and a few specks of lacing on the way down. The nose brings strawberry and lactose. There's a bit of sweetness there as well as some malt. Bit of booze as well. The flavor has strawberry and lactose, but then also carries a cardboard-like oxidation that's not very pleasing. Along with the strawberry is some dark malt sweetness. A bit of astringency in the finish. Somewhat hot. Actually, the finish is fairly unpleasant. Medium body and low carbonation leading into the dry finish. I liked the Strawberry Short's Cake, but this one took a turn for the worse, which is sad because I know Short's can do a strawberry beer quite well.

Brewed with strawberries and milk sugar aged in brandy barrels according to the menu. This was the first beer I had at the Short's takeover, fortunately for me it got better.

Beer is copper to red with a thin average looking head of small bubbles.

The aroma has a mild cardboard note to it but overall it smells like sweetness and strawberries.

The beer does not taste like strawberreis though. It is a rough road of oxidation and boozy heat. Some tannic notes in the background. I hate adding a beer and giving it a bad review but I see no way around it. I wouldn't have this beer again if it were offered to me for free.
