Pours yellow with immense foaming head. A by-product from the foam is wafting hop scent. Significant IBU (that leaves its impact on the palate) and very good drinkability, appreciate the sessionable abv, however flavour is just OK.Thanks to Steve for hooking me up.

Appearance: Pours a hazy amber color with a modest head that leaves a fair amount of lacing behind

Smell: Nice grapefruit aromatics along with a hint of other tropical fruit

Taste: The malt is almost undiscernable as the grapefruit and tropical fruit flavors take over; while the flavors are nice, they seem somewhat watered down

Mouthfeel: Light bodied with moderate to high carbonation; aqueous

Overall: I love low ABV beers that pack the flavor so I really think I should love this beer - but I don't; it really feels watered down to me, sadly; I would still enjoy drinking it all evening long at a wedding but I have tasted a number of other low ABV beers recently, that don't have this watered-down character, so I must be spoiled

2.5 finger head on a cloudy golden with slight brownish hue body. Grapefruit, pineapple and orange peel for citrus, herbal hops and a mild burnt oak aroma. Flavor is excellent as well with Herbal and citrus hops with a hint of pine resin more towards the finish with some tart orange. Too carbonated for my liking and medium body. This one is really good. The carbonation is distracting but the aroma and flavor pair well although te flavor is fairly simple.

Thanks for this one, Jeff!

A: The pour is a hazy light orange color with a thin layer of white foam.

S: Smells quite nice. Very heavy on the peaches with some nice grapefruit peel and other citrus notes. Hints of pine with lots of floral hops. A very mild bread/malt aroma.

T: Perhaps a bit too bitter, but otherwise a very solid flavor. Lots of grapefruit and citrus peel with just as much pine. There is also a nice little fruit note, as there was on the nose.

M: Light to medium in body with medium carbonation and a lingering bitterness.

O: A pretty nice, low alcohol hoppy beer. I would like to see more of these.

I had this on tap at the brewpub. Poured into a sample glass.

Appearance: Pours a clear light amber with a half finger of off white head that sticks to the glass well.

Smell: Sweet and malty but dominated by citrus hope. Hints of pineapple and tangerine.

Taste: Very disappointing compared to the smell. Some hops up front, citrus and herbal. There is a mildly off taste in the finish. Not a lot of malt here.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with tingly carbonation and a dry finish.

Overall: I was super disappointed with the taste, especially after smelling it. I wouldn't have this again.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 9/4/2013. Pours slightly hazy golden amber color with a 1-2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big lemon zest, pineapple, orange zest, grapefruit, tangerine, pine, floral, grass, light honey, bread, and floral earthiness. Fantastic aromas with great complexity of hop notes with a fair amount of malt balance; and good strength. Taste of big lemon zest, pineapple, orange zest, grapefruit, tangerine, floral, grass, pine, bread, light honey, and floral earthiness. Large amount of pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, citrus zest, pineapple, floral, grass, pine, bread, light honey, and floral earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity of citrus/tropical hop flavors with a fair amount of malt balance; with no cloying bitterness after the finish. Medium carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish as expected of 4%. Overall this is a fantastic session IPA! All around great complexity, balance, and robustness of citrus/tropical hop flavors with a fair amount of malt balance; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A highly enjoyable offering.

Thanks Adam!

The beer is crystal clear and appears orange in color. Teeming with effervescence, the beer has a half inch of white head that leaves plenty of sticky lacing on the pint glass.

The aroma is outstanding, with a lot of hop and citrus scents.

The flavor offers a heavy dose of grapefruit, tangy oranges, and misc. citrus. Bitterness is there, particularly in the finish. Lots of lasting citrus in the aftertaste.

The body is relatively thin, but then again this is a session IPA. This would be easy to drink in quantity.

Packed with flavor and only 4% abv, this is smooth and easy drinking. One of the best beers I have had from Short's, I definitely recommend this one.

A 12 oz bottle from Flick's in Lambertville, MI.

A: The IPA is coppery, a vernal yellow-brown melange that glows. The radiance doesn't mean that the ale is clear. Oh no, plenty of sediment here. A white head, sparse, is lacing in a few places.

S: The nose doesn't go light on hops, a citrusy bouquet wafting out of my glass. Leafy and fresh, the hops grab hold but don't scald. Orange and grapefruit are the stand-out citrus elements. A biscuity base holds everything together.

T: Vegetal, lush with hops, the ale has an undercurrent of spicy hot black peppercorns. Caramel malts are in abundant supply as well. Orange stands out when the ale is cold; it recedes a bit as the ale warms. Pine is late to the party, more of a finishing flavor. The ale is generally light, lacking alcohol or plodding depth, making it quite drinkable. A perfect early afternoon beer that won't wear me out.

M: Sweet and spicy but quite light, the ale doesn't have a big bold body.

Six pack purchased in MI for $11.99 (I think, maybe it was $10.99). A fresh IPA from the makers of Huma Lupa Licious? An easy purchase decision.

It pours a light golden color with an orange tint, maybe a bit of chill haze. Initially a few fingers of eggshell foam, sheety lace. The aroma is fresh hops, resiny and spicy, with a little toasted malt accompaniment.

It has a lot of flavor considering the low ABV! Scathing pine resin up front, a lasting hop burn in back, with an extremely light mouthfeel throughout. No sweetness from the malt, just a little toastiness. Excellent, just my style.

Not since the Stone session IPA collaboration have I been so impressed with a low ABV IPA. This is excellent, very happy with the purchase.

A - Color is a touch hazier than expected with great carbonation and over an inch of sticky white head.

S - Smells of a very nice IPA with citrus and grapefruit hops with some crystal malts and bready base. Smells hoppy for a session IPA.

T - Got a nice bitterness that starts the sip then quickly to crystal and bready malts and even some bitterness that clings to the finish. Taste is balanced to by the way.

M - Light to medium bodied.

Overall I kind of like this IPA and ABV is nice but it's availability staggers it's session ability. A very good session IPA which is only slightly better than Founders all Day IPA since it is more bitter.

Pours a pale-straw color, almost Kolsch-looking, very little bit of cloudiness in the middle but still fairly transparent. Very volatile, huge, white, foamy head, even with a modest pour. Aroma has tons of citrus, namely grapefruit and orange peel. Nice perfume-like aromas, very hoppy and floral. Picking up somewhat of a weird aroma as well, very reminiscent of dishwasher soap... Taste is full of dank hop bitterness all the way around. Peppery spice backs things up; leafy, dry - a bit different from the nose, as the citrus flavors barely come out in the taste; I'm getting mostly just florals, here. Slight piney and woody flavor on the end of the tongue with a slightly salty finish. Sad to say, the weird dish soap aroma come out in the flavor a bit, too. It was throwing things off just a bit, though not strong enough to ruin the beer. Pretty thin body with very high carbonation.

Decent IPA, especially for being only 4% ABV. Then again, a low gravity typically emphasizes bitterness, so it's no wonder this beer was still packed with hop flavor. Some weird soapy hints kind of made me scratch my head, but didn't completely kill the vibe. This is similar to a toned down Huma Lupa Licious, in which case, why not just have one of those? And if you're in it for the low ABV, Founder's All Day is the way to go. Still a decent brew, though.

pour clear golden orange with a fluffy dense white head. Nose has pale malt, notes of grain transitioning to some sweet caramel as the hops fade in, rather floral and zesty with a tinge of citrus. The taste is a bit muddled compared to the well balanced nose. The malts seem messier and slightly toasted. There is a hint of biscuit mid palate with a sweet caramel playing in towards the back as the hops come in but less vibrant than the nose. Floral and herbal with strong bitterness in the finish. Carbonation is light on a heavy body not quite doing it as the finish feels short and syrupy.

12 oz. bottle.

Mostly clear, golden peach body. Small, sticky, off-white head with decent lacing and a little retention. Tantalizing aromas of pineapple, fruit cocktail, grapefruit, mandarin orange, orange Jolly Rancher, and a little pine.

Light toasted malt notes up front. Herbal and aspirin bitterness follow soon enough. Citrus notes show up early too: grapefruit and orange. Very subdued caramel and fruit malt notes. Finish is bitter with lingering resin, pine, orange marmalade, and aspirin. Moderate body with a lively, seltzer-y feel. Not bad. Lots of perceived bitterness due to the low abv and the scarce malt presence makes for a very hoppy session ale.

A - Pours a sligtly hazy golden brown with one finger of off white head. Head leaves some lacing.

S - Quite fruity, with lemon, orange and peach. Also quite grassy with an unfortunate off aroma that I can't place.

T - Taste is quite bitter up front with orange and grapefruit peel. Also quite grassy. Thin on the back end with lingering bitterness.

M - light moutfeel with lingering bitterness. Slightly oily.

O - A decent session IPA, which I am happy to see more of. I've had others in his style that I would go back to before having this again though.

A: Slightly hazed yellow gold in color. Barely forms any head at all, maybe some thin patchy surface coating, but that is about it. Does leave a light lacing though.

S: Citra hops? Orange, lemon, grapefruit. Some of that floral-citrus quality. Very nice.

T: More cirtra. Orange and grapefruit. Lightly floral sweetness - a hoppy sweetness more than a malty one. Malts are low; some light pale malts, but hops are the main attraction here (and I'm not complaining).

M: On the lighter side with appropriate carbonation. Mild bitterness with a slightly spicy bite.

O: A pretty damn good beer. Light, yet flavorful, with lots of hop goodness. Very easy drinker. Apparently Short's can make a decent beer when they're not dropping every possible ingredient into the brew kettle.

Thanks kirk (florida9) for hooking up some more short's!!! much appreciated.

a - cracked the bottle and filled my capt lawrence taster tulip. crisp opaque honey yellow with a finger plus of frothy white ipa head with sticky lacing. looks pretty good.

s - nice subtle, yet hop forward smell. citric sweetness. smells quite good. not sure how fresh this is, but with the first review about a month ago, seems pretty fresh. i'm diggin it.

t - the taste differed quite a bit from the smell. again, hop forward, but not as citric, more bitter on the finish and not nearly as sweet as the nose suggests.

m - as with all shorts, a bit watery but not thin.

o - overall this is a pretty good ipa. it is pretty timid on the hop forwardness so get this one while you can and as fresh as possible since there isn't much for the hophead here. i dug it and if i could get this locally i'd be more than happy to tear through a few 6'ers of this when it hits shelves, but this is not one to wait on.
