Was brought home a Growler of this beer, poured into a pint glass - review from tasting notes a few months back.

A: Dark Amber with a white head that dissapates rather quickly.

S: A very interest blend of mint, chocolate and malts. The mint smell came out the strongest.

T: Very interesting taste, tasting the mint up front with malts/citrus however it finishes relatively clean and this is when the chocolate comes out ever so slightly.

M: Medium body, light carbonation.

O: I was very hesitant to try an IPA promising Mint and Chocolate. Together I love the flavors in almost anything but beer? It was a pleasant surprise that it mixed very well and the taste wasn't overpowering. Overall it's one of the most interesting beers I've had from Shorts and certainly my favorite out of all the oddities such as Key Lime, Shorts Cake, etc. I wish they bottled it!

I had this on-tap at the brewpub. Poured into a sample glass.

Appearance: Pours a reddish dark amber color with a layer of off white head. The head fades quickly and leaves a ring around the glass with a very mild amount of lacing.

Smell: The mint dominates the smell along with some malt sweetness. Not much hop aroma to be found, but still smells good.

Taste: Malty but not sweet. Initially, the mint is the dominant flavor, but the citrus peel hops take over after a bit. Tastes a bit like a minty tea with a bitter finish. Don't really taste the chocolate notes they promised.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with mild, smooth carbonation and a dry finish.

Overall: I was worried about the use of mint, thought it might taste like mouthwash. I enjoyed the mint and it made this a very interesting beer. My only other comment is that the hops and mint hid each other a bit.

Serving type: on-tap
