Thanks Kris for this big time want as an extra. Poured into Kate '12 glass

A 1 finger white head with moderate retention. Murky, hazy orange body with some decent signs of carbonation. Head leaves some thick sticky lacing around the rim of the glass.

S Floral hops with some citrus behind it all. Light tropical fruit accompanies an earthy hop note as well. Smells nice

T Bitter earthy hops come out upfront. Bitter citrus shines nicely in the middle that follows to a big piney bitter finish that packs a punch. Very bitter DIPA that has some nice sweet notes.

M Medium mouthfeel with a slightly lower carbo feel. Drinks easy and finishes clean

O I liked the full out bitterness assault in this one. Feels nice and tastes pretty good too. I wouldnt mind some more citrus or floral hops but I cant complain too much.

Small bottle from Steve. Pours light grapefruit body with generous retained head. Mild hop aroma. A good drinkable bitterness, high IBU but not a palate shredder, fuller mouthfeel. Surprised at the high level of alcohol, it was well hid. Bottled in April, received in May. Good 1.5X IPA.

The color is a translucent amber-orange with a finger of head. Smells of citrus and floral hop tones. I smell some caramel and malt as well. Maybe even some chocolate? Mainly a floral hop experience when tasted, but the citrus doesn't lack. The malty backbone is well-represented, and supports the heavy hop presence. It's bitter, and it leaves the mouth dry as expected. No aftertaste. Just a nice hop experience through and through. Mouthfeel is somewhat on the heavy side, and it's well-carbonated. Overall, I bought a case at the Anniversary party and I'm looking forward in seeing how it plays out in the future. I'm thinking this won't be a one time brew and they'll brew this again. We're lucky to live in Michigan with not only great beer, but some of the best DIPA's in the country. Hopheads-don't miss out on this one.

Reviewing the Aww Jeah from Short's Brewing Company out of Bellaire, Michigan.

Score: 90

Bottle code "1193C21658." Served in a generic snifter glass and enjoyed on 08/19/13.

Appearance: Pours an orange copper with a half finger of off-white head that settles to a thin ring around the glass. Good lacing and retention. 4/5

Smell: Caramel malt, honey and fruity/grassy hops. A little spiciness too. As it warms, some tropical citrus comes through, but it is not juicy-fresh. 4/5

Taste: Bready malt, caramel malt, grapefruit, and floral hop flavor. Bitter grassiness towards the finish with a residual bitterness that lingers nicely. The hoppiness has a little dirty spiciness to it too, but this character is not very prominent. As this beer warms and layers, it becomes palate wreckingly bitter/hoppy. 4/5

Mouthfeel: Very light in body for an imperial IPA, low carbonation. The bitterness really sits and layers on the tongue, slightly singeing while the brew sits on the palate. 4/5

Overall: A total hop bomb palate killer. Nothing special, but well done. Cheers.

Cost: $15 for a six pack.

Got a couple of these from finebeerguy. Thanks! No bottling date, but I believe this is quite fresh - 2 weeks old at most.

This smells like straight hop pellets after uncapping the bottle: pretty dank and aromatic. The pour is dark, cloudy, and amber hued, topped by three fingers of froth that leaves sheets of lacing. The nose is equal amounts pine and citrus, with a solid backbone of caramel malt. It's a little yeasty and soapy, too, but hops are dominant, bringing to mind candied oranges. Smells quite good, but not exceptional. Tastes citrus forward and fairly resinous. Big pine notes from the hop bill, backed by a good mount of caramel sweetness. Hops take on an herbal, almost minty profile toward the finish. Body is medium, heavier than I'd like. The malt backbone feels too substantial. The finish is quite bitter, but never as dry as I'd like - malt lingers well into the finish. This is enjoyable on the whole, but not overly memorable.

A: pours a deep golden orange with a two finger dense off white head
S: smells of pine, orange marmalade, and sweet citrus a little alcohol and a bit floral as well
T: woody and earthy hops and a bit of pine. bready malt backbone and a slight citrus flavor. aftertaste brings a kick of oily earthy hops and a bit of sweet malt struggles to come through
M: medium to full with slightly prickly carbonation, slightly slick and oily but not bad
O: A pretty tasty DIPA that is well made but doesn't really stand out. Definitely not overly sweet but still having something like balance.
