Located in the same plaza as My Place Pizza (good beer bar)

Yankee, albeit small, is a very good store to buy some beer. When you walk in the cooler is to your right, with single bombers, 16 ounce, and sixers of some quality beers (Berkshire, Westmalle, Brooklyn) in addition to 12 packs of the BMC variety. And in the same aisle to your left, you will find 750ml and bombers of Allagash, Unibroue, some belgians and some other great beers. If you find yourself having some beer and food at My Place, stop here for something to bring home.

Yankee has hired a new beer manager, Chris, and he's doing a great job of expanding the selection. While a little cramped, the shelf space devoted to beer is continually increasing. Prices are great on most of the items, such as Gouden Carolus Cuvee van der Kaiser 2008 at less than $10 /750 ml and the tripel for less than $9. Westmalle, Rochefort, St. Bernardus, Chouffe, Urthel and other Belgians can be found here, as well as a good selection of domestic micros. If there's something special that you want, and it's available in Fairfeild, CT, they will get it for you quickly, including kegs.

Just across the parking lot from My Place restaurant, which always has a good selection on tap.

If you go to My Place...you don't even have to move your car...it's in the same plaza...on the same side.
Selection of beers is pretty good. There are a lot of Connecticut beers there as well as other American micros...also Belgian, German and English . Good selection of singles, 750s and bombers. I picked a pack of Pinkus- Petrus !
Didn't really deal with the staff...but they didn't seem to mind me staring at their beers for a while.
Not a destination , but worth a browse if you're in the area and especially if you're at My Place.

This is the main store I go to in town for a good brew. They have an entire wall dedicated to mostly specialty beers and a pretty decent wine selection as well. The have a pretty diverce collection that includes imported as well as more localized brews. The people working there are very nice and are easy to deal with. I would not call this place particularly outstanding, but they are great for my needs and my place is only a two minute walk away if you something form the tap.

Great place for a person like me who is just starting to get into specialty beers and wants to build thier repertoire.

a real nice liquor store in the same shopping center as newtown's own beer capital my place restaurant (also in beerfly, check it out). recently under new ownership, i have seen a push towards better beer. they have an ever increasing selection of belgians, lambics to trappistes and everything in between. good selection of the local north eastern/east coast beers as well. frequently when you walk in there is a free sample of a wine or beer, which is always welcomed. the senior staff also seem genuinely interested in increasing their selection as well, and are always willing to take a recommendation or an opinion on a given beer. none of the bottle look like they've been hanging around to long, and being there a number of times, i have never gotten an old bottle. though they're still selling last falls DFH punkin ale as of 5/27. it probably still good though (?) this place gets a solid 4, it's not exceptional, but worth a visit.
