Another beer given to me by Marcus that I've had to find a home for on this site: brewed or at least labelled for a Posh Shop in Gravelines (close to the channel ports), France.
33cl Bottle: best before 30/09/2013, poured into a Westmalle chalice @ home on 08/12/2012.
The sediment was allowed to leave the bottle so although the body was fine there were a few items floating around the otherwise bright and colourful brew ( mahogany/red): the thin white head soon became a wisp and collar, sadly.
Really sweet and alcoholic in nature: treacle and malty molasses rule both the nose and taste. Hints of yeast (they were hanging around in the glass after all), dark fruits and a head ache appear as the initial flavours faded. I might be being unkind, because this does have redeeming aspects in so much as it actually tastes OK, I like the sweeter, maltier brews and this isn't bad at all, just worried about my brain tomorrow.
Could easily have been a top quality Belgian heavy hitter: I can't be more complimentary than that surely?
