Sampled on tap at the Dux Christchurch in December 07 in pint glass.
Appearance - Deep charcoal black, nice tan, creamy (nitro) head with good retention..
Smell - Difficult to ascertain smell, but hints of mint, licorice, heavy chocolate and coffee. Touch of oats in the mash? Slightly too bitter for me, but appropriate for a dry stout. Somewhat boring, especially as you progress.
Mouthfeel - Smooth, velvety with great level of carbonation for the style (i.e. not much)
Drinkability - Overall, not bad but rather forgettable as stouts go. Nothing too creative in this one, but nothing offensive at all either. Still the best brewpub stout I've had in Oceania...
Serving type: nitro-tap
