Clear, light amber color. Average white foam.
In the smell the ho prevails, resinous, grapefruit, tangerine. Fresh and inviting.
A starting maltiness in the maouth, followed by the hoppiness, resinous and citrussy.
Same notes in the aftertaste, quite short.

Pours a nearly lifeless cloudy orange color with just a few bubbles rising lazily to the surface. Looks pretty limp and sad.

The aroma is quite good, fresh, grapefruit like hop notes. Tropical fruit is fairly strong on this one.

The taste is bitter and hoppy with plenty of pith and rind action really grinding away. Malt sweetness makes it kind of like a hop smoothie. Sugary sweetness and American hops do a nice job with IPA flavor.

In the feel, however, the carbonation is just too mild. Its not flat but not entirely far from it. Wishing for more body.

Overall, I am not quite sure I've reviewed a beer such a way. It is OK, as far as smell and taste, but like a few other beers on the market, the feel is just way too thin. With a firmer carbonated body this beer could be solid.

Pours a pint full of foam. After it eventually settles (and I can finish pouring and drink the darned thing) there remains a little scattered lacing and a thick film resting atop the liquid. As transparent as a filthy windshield, the amber colored looked rather inviting.
Smell is a nice blend of hops and malt with a hint of pine but that's it.
Taste is more DIPA than IPA. Well married malt and hops with a strong alcohol presence.
Medium bodied with less effervescence than expected. Maybe it all left in the copious foaming 20 minutes previous. Warming like a DIPA as well. Doubt I'll look for this again but if someone offers me one, ok.

A - Pretty, slightly murky orange/gold, nice fat off white head, leaves slowly to disk with lots of cling lace.

S - Ok, this is where things get a little different. Not much malt in smell and there is some pretty prevalent hop action, but there is also a sour, tangy element to it.

T - Nice malt, good hops, but that lemon tart element is there. Doesn't remind me of a IPA in that sense.

M - Medium body, malt upfront, bitter back, then that tart lemon lingers.

D - Interesting beer to try. Not what I expected, but not bad, either.

Pours a fluffy two fingers of head on a cloudy dark straw colored body.
The aroma has lots of danky lemon, barnish smell, but nice.
The taste has bold lemon bitterness but lots of malt to hold it up. I like it.
The texture is thicker with moderate carbonation.
Enjoy it.

A - Ow damn not up to a good start the color is decent deep amber yellow but the head is all wrong, way too carbonated making over two inches of head that is way too bubbly and fades out fast.
S - Ow man its very medicinal smelling with a sour tart cherry smell and some fruity hops.
T - Pretty terrible ugh why did they bottle this? It has some hops in the finish with some balance but the overall taste is sort of sour almost infected. I may pour it out.
M - light to medium, very on par with the style.

Overall I wish this beer was more "jagged edge" on hop bitterness and not infected sourness. Please don't buy this.

Bottle > Pint Glass

A - Cloudy orange gold with tons of head, about 3.5 fingers, big and fluffy, some of sediment on the bottom.
S - Sweet malts that give off a sour scent too, definitely astringent, grapefruit, under-ripe tart cherry, some weird spices too, some clove?
T - Extremely tart, some mild spicy traits, a hint of diacetyl, really sour grapefruit and cherry flavor.
M - Tart and clingy.
O - Bleh, this is not good at all, really weird and unbalanced IPA, too sour.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle with a January 2014 expiration date. Sampled on October 17, 2013.

The color of the pour is cloudy and medium amber brown with a lingering but small off-white delicate head.

Fascinating aroma. certainly I get plenty of floral and piney hops which is to be expected from from an IPA but I also get a chocolate scent.

The body is in the medium range.

The taste also has this chocolate/cocoa malt character followed by a big hoppy bitterness that lingers at the end.

Nice looking amber orange color in the New Belgium snifter. The foam is quite admirable as well. Decent sudsy mouthfeel. This seems like another well-made brew from Black Diamond.

Bitter twang from the start. A touch of melon, then the pine, and then it's just bitter. Brewer says this has Simcoe, Centennial, and Columbus hops. Some dark toasty flavors with a sharp sensation, but a modest malty richness. Tart finish with a dark, bitter and winey grape-skin taste.

While this has some virtues, it suffers from the usual excess of hops without as much pleasure as you might hope for. The aftertaste is like grapefruit rind on the lips. From the 22 oz bottle bought at Barons Marketplace on Point Loma Blvd.

A - Cloudy orange. 1mm of head which quickly dissolves and not too much lacing.

S - Strong lemon/lime and apple aroma. Smells a bit cidery

T - Apple cider again. Definitely a west coast IPA in style with citrus hops but the "big malt backbone" lends a cloying sweetness that reminds me of all the off home brews I've made

M - Medium/light body and moderate carbonation

0 - The malts kill it for me. The sweetness they impart overpower the hops. This beer is definitely not lacking in flavor, it's just a flavor I don't personally enjoy.

Pours a clear copper color with a tight, pillowy white head that leaves little bits of lacing.

Smells of citrus peel and herbal hops.

Tastes of the solid hops upfront layered over a decent malt base. Hops lead off with herbal notes rushing forward that quickly turn to vegetable notes. Honestly, it detracts significantly. Citrus notes make their through the shuffle and blend in with some malt sweetness. The malts offer up caramel and a bit of toffee.

Mouthfeel is medium with a smooth amount of carbonation.

Overall, this feels like a beer that could use some tweaking to become something significantly better.

Pours a hazy medium to dark copper with a one inch foamy cream head that lingers, eventually leaving sheets of lacing as it dissipates.

Wet grass, resin, dank cannabis, and lime form the initial aroma, with a fairly rich caramel malt surfacing in the background. Pine, light floral notes, and grapefruit emerge.

Flavor is decidedly sweet and malty initially, very bready, with caramel malt dominating throughout. Flavoring hops of grapefruit, lime, and resin that are evident early fade to slightly bitter hops at the finish. A little cardboard oxidation emerges in the aftertaste.

Body is a touch watery, with moderate carbonation, slight astringency, and a touch of alcohol warmth.

While the flavoring hops aren't a standout, and bittering hops are not as prevalent as some, I really enjoyed this brew. Malt sweetness might be too much for some, but it suits my palate.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass

A - dark range in color with a 2 inch head. Very bubbly as well

S - Grapefruit and pine hops with a hefty malt smell as well

T - Very piney, grapefruit as well. The booze hides pretty well for a 7.3% brew. A good amount of malt as well but also a metallic aftertaste

M - A little thin for this kind of beer, Pretty good carb.

Overall - A decent beer. Nothing spectacular

Jagged Edge IPA pours out a slightly hazy orange color with two fingers of head. The aroma is very nice, citrus hops, caramel malt, and a nice pine edge. The taste is a bit less satisfying, as the caramel malts run the show, the hops just provide a bit of supporting pine bitterness around the edges. The mouthfeel seems a bit too thin for the malts power, and the drinkability is solid. A good malt forward IPA.

I drank this brew from a bottle. It pours a cloudy, golden, amber color and has about a 1/2 inch head. It has great lacing.

The smell is subtle, almost boring. It is not hoppy, piney or sweet; it is not really powerful at all.

The brew does have a nice taste to it. More sweet then bitter, meaning the malts outweigh the hops . It has balance - balance is not always easy to achieve and when it happens it usually indicates a well brewed beer. I like the taste, even though I expected more bitterness and hoppiness. I think the sweetness of the malts really mutes the hops.

Mouthfeel is really nice! The malts make for a sweet and smooth drink and the hops create enough bitterness to make you thirsty and drink more! haha

Overall it is good. I think if I were the marketing manager I would have advertised the malts more than the hops, but it is a good beer, worth a try. Not my favorite but glad I bought it and had the opportunity to drink it.

Pours a light golden amber with a thin head into my glass. Looks like an IPA and hopefully will taste like one, etc.

Piney hops greet the nose followed by buttered bread malt. Mmm. Nom nom. That's a relief so far.

Ditto on taste. Piney hops coat the mouth, obscuring the malt at the same time. Well, it is an IPA.

Lingering piney hops and some buttery malt. Love the bite of the hops. Makes it a worthwhile purchase.

Check it out.

A new arrival to NH, the notches on the side indicate July 2012, is that a bottled on or exp date?
Pours a crystal clear deep golden color with a huge white head that shows great retention and moderate lacing. The aroma is mostly garlic and green onions. Maybe there's a hint of bready malt, but its really hard to find. The flavor follows the aroma really well. I get lots of vegetative onion and garlic hop flavor with just a hint of sweet bready malt that is struggling to find a voice. The finish holds a bit of licorice and more of the garlic long after every sip. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a light syrup resinous mouthfeel. Intense vegetative hop aroma and flavor, but this seems to lack any complexity. I could drink this, but wouldn't seek it out.

Poured into a Delirium snifter on 8/24/12

The label is notched May 12

Mostly clear, sun-faded orange and amber. Two finger head of moderate sized bubbles. Overall retention is about a third of that. Pretty nice lace, too.

The aroma is timid and weak. Buttered biscuit, orange peel, pine needles, grass, herbs, caramel and.. anise cookies? What the hell? Sweet notes of marmalade. This is pretty much how you want your IPA not to smell.

The body is watery and thin and bringing along with it only half-hearted carbonation. The beer is somehow hot, slick and irritating. The feel is perfect to allow a plethora of schwag Morrow-tucky reminders to boil across my sense of taste. Herbal foliage, peppers, bitter orange rind rubbed in dirt. Stale biscuits and too much toasted bread. This is really bad.

This isn't worth finishing and isn't worth buying.

Poured from a bottle into a tumbler-pint, the beer is a clear, vibrant, copper-orange coloring with a thin, sparse, filmy white surface coating. Aromas of wet, resiny, bitter hops with a solid caramel backbone. Smells extremely balanced. Flavors are hop forward, with a grapefruit citrus component that amplifies the resin and bitterness of the wet hops character. Roasted caramel sweet backbone helps to keep everything on an even keel, with a touch of biscuit at the end of the palate. The aftertaste is more tangy sweet, and definitely bitter, with a slick, slightly drying finish. Very solid, flavorful, and well put together IPA. Very decent.

Poured from a bottle into a tulip. 4-finger off-white tight head that stuck around for a while and left some nice lacing. Brew is a typical burnt-orange west coast IPA. Not too hazy, looks filtered.

Decent hop-forward nose; some tropical fruitiness to it but the sweetness of the malt plays a big role. Not the most aromatic IPA.

Some juicy hops but more in the bittering varietals. There is a burnt malt characteristic to Jagged Edge which gives it a roasty, almost coffee-esque quality. Not sure if this is deliberate or not. There's also a strong hit of minerality.

Mouthfeel is bitter, dry and astringent.

I think we've all had an IPA like this one. Not bad, but not very good.

Pours hazy orange with a decent head that dissipates. Some clingy lace.

Odd nose - a sour note with some herbal essences.

Nice hop bite up front, toasted malt, a touch of fruit. Some bread crust, leading to a balance of hop and malt bitterness. A bit aggressively bitter at the end, which would make it hard to have too many in a row.

Medium body, good carbonation.

Decent brew overall. Some flaws and heavy bitter. Still very decent, although I'd like a bit more complexity and a bit more malt profile.

Appears a pale copper orange color with a bright white head forming thick with speckled lacing left behind in my glass. Aroma has some onion like Summit notes with a nice citric grapefruit hop nose. Flavor explodes with grapefruit rind citrus notes and a heavy garlic onion notes bursting through the hop profile sweet malts balance it all out not overtly so but there's a long lasting earthy vegetable like flavor. Mouthfeel has a resinous oily hop texture with even flowing carbonation, probably medium bodied if I had to choose how thick it is. Overall an interesting well spirited hopped up West Coast IPA.

On tap at Tony's Darts Away in Burbank, CA.

Pours a clear honey orange with a foamy bone colored head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of citrus fruit, citrus zest, and some herbal hop aromas. Taste is much the same with a slight malt finish. There is a medium amount of bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with a nice set of aromas and flavors.

One of the more disappointing beers to ever rear its ugly head at the Bistro ipa festival. Pours out a decent looking yellow with moderate cloudiness, got me hoping it was merely hop matter floating throughout, but no. Aroma revealed no dry hopping, attempts at conveying a pine like smell.

Taste, all bitter mouthfeel, no lush green hop notes. Just terrible for something from the bay area. How about some hops man? Not just copper penny bitterness either. This was just all alcohol heat and bitterness.

This is one of the worst ipa's in California. It's also below average for the rest of the nation.

Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a standard pint glass.
Chill-hazed gold, with a big, billowy head of bone-white foam.
Aroma-Subtle citrus hops
Taste-Big blast of malt and hops that just barely hold each other in check. Piney and citrussy with toasted malt interwoven. This brew cries out for a spicy food pairing: Chicken wings or a blue cheese burger.
