I've been on a Double Imperial IPA kick over the last few months and I have to share that this DIIPA has become my latest go-to brew. "Sucks" is great. Hopslam's a no-brainer, too, but I'll take Rampage over Hercules or Ruination any day, and I appreciate that I don't have to wait-til-next-year to find it. This thing is loaded with citrus and pine with no off notes to this tasters palate. At $8 a bomber it's fairly priced, as well. Looking forward to finding it on tap someday.

Pours a two-finger cream head that fades slowly leaving some lace. Clear amber color. Medium-strong carbonation and medium bodied. Nose is grapefruit hops, flavor is grapefruit hops and hints of caramel. Lingering bitter finish. $8.75 for a 22oz bottle from Bert's Better Beers Hooksett, NH

From a 22 oz bottle ordered from Letspour.
Pours a yellow gold with 1/2 inch head.
Light aroma of a laundry room and melon rind.
Significant carbonation and mouthfeel.
Flavors are big on the hop end...slight grass, grapefruit, earth. There's a touch of oxidation from shipping, I'm guessing, but it's not major. Overall a flavorful hoppy malt monster with a great elephant label design.

Two fingers of head on a hazy, medium straw colored body.
The aroma is a nice lemon and grapefruit... just enough.
The taste has a solid moderate to high lemon bitterness that is backed up nicely by the malt profile. Not a touch of sweetness gets through though.
The texture is smooth with moderate carbonation.
Wow, a solid beer.

A - burnt orange, murky at pour but clears over time, thick white head, great lacing

S - floral, citrus, grapefruit, caramel, some pine and mint

T - sweet, citrus - more orange than grapefruit, some bitterness in the finish

M - hefty without getting syrupy

O - very pleasant and easy to drink, nice beer but it does not inspire me to buy more - for such a big alcoholic beer the taste is quite subdued

Poured from a 22 oz brown bomber into a Duvel tulip. No freshness date discernible. Purchased at Total Wine (Norwalk, CT) for $4.99.

A: Clear apricot amber with 1-2 fingers of off-white head dissipating quickly and leaving a few dots of lace.

S: Great aroma with lots of musky, herb-al intermingled with pine, citrus, and some minor tropical fruit aromas. There is a pretty big dose of maltiness as well, mostly bready with some light caramel notes.

T: The flavor unfortunately doesn't deliver on the aroma's promise. First off, I think there are some off-flavors in this beer. There is a fair amount of fusels, but there is a spicy cinnamon/clove note through the middle of this beer that is very distracting. The musk and herbal character carries through and the bitterness is moderate, maybe a bit more. The citrus component comes through but the hops flavor overall is muddled as others have said. Then there is the malt component, which is pretty innocuous and certainly supports all of the hopload going into this beer. It just tastes like they kept adding a huge variety of different hops at different times and came up without a clear, bellringer of a hops note and instead a little bit of everything and not a lot of anything.

M: This beer does have a good feel though and the carbonation is pretty well-balanced with the body which is medium. The finish is pretty dry. The aftertaste though is this weird mix of herbal, earthy, musky hops and cinnamon/clove, not overly strong but definitely noticeable.

O: I kind of wonder how old this bottle is (hello, bottle dating) but its not a terrible beer at all. It could use more focus on the hops end to use a "less is more" approach, as in less different hops to bring more of a signature flavor. The fermentation also needs some work to reduce the fusels and off flavors that are there.

This is my first review so be EASEEE.

A- This beer looks great in the glass. Dark orange to light brown color and quite cloudy. Poors with a decent head.

S- A very pleasant and hoppy aroma, it smells like I am in for quite a treat. Strong sense of pine and citrus, a grapefruit presence in evident.

T- The taste is what got me with this beer. Where I was expecting a bold, hoppy IPA that the scent teased, I instead found it to be flat, mundane, and quite simple. It is very bitter. With a cinnamon-like after taste and the presence of nearly zero hops, I almost felt like I was drinking a hefeweizen; not what I was expecting from an IPA of such high alc/vol content (9.0).

F: It is quite odd tasting for my liking, overpowered by cinnamon. That said, I have had much worse IPA's. If you are turned off to an overly-hopped beer but are still looking for something with high ALC content, then this isn't a bad option. But for us hop fiends out there; stay thirsty my friends, and search on.
