A-Pours a murky orange color. Very hazy. Head is thin and white. Leaves wide bubbly lacing craters along the glass.

S-Dank, hempy, resinous and bubble gummy. Abrasive and strong. Hops are very muscular. Not sure how much I love the expression of the hops. The intensity of the aroma is excellent, however. Very, very hoppy.

T-Again, big, thick and dense in terms of hops. Wet grapefruit flesh and dank pine along with cat piss and marijuana. Malty flavors are much less intense. I get some wet, boozy, sweet breaded malts. Interesting flavor and I love the beer's power.

M-Bitter and dry. Flavor lingers for quite some time. More of a sipper.

O/D-Definitely better than I thought it would be. Didn't love the hop flavor too much but I loved the beers intensity and strength. A hyper-hopped brew that is worth trying but I didn't fall in love with the hop bouquet.

A: The beer is clear yellowish amber in color and has no visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high light beige head that has excellent retention properties and hardly died down.
S: Moderately strong aromas of grapefruit hops are present in the nose.
T: Like the smell, the taste is very citrusy and has lots of flavors of ruby red grapefruit and also has some bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of bitterness. No crispness is detectable.
O: This beer has lots of grapefruit flavors but isn't as complex as other Some of the other Imperial IPAs.

Rampage Imperial IPA pours out a bubbly clear amber color with a small head. The aroma is great, there's heavy citrus and pine hops, with a nice caramel malt base. The taste is very heavy on sweet citrus hops and zest at first, then a little bit of an awkward place where the caramel malts are kinda in a taste purgatory with the piney hops. The finish straightens everything out with more of the sweet citrus and grapefruit. The mouthfeel seems a little light and perhaps a bit too overcarbonated. The drinkability is solid. Overall, this is a good double IPA. Those who like a sweeter DIPA should really love this.

Really looking forward to this one; I loved their IPA. Nice to be reunited with this brewery on this side of the Atlantic. 1 pint 6 fl oz brown glass bottle with standard pressure cap acquired at a local beer store and served into a New Belgium goblet in me gaff in low altitude Los Feliz, Los Angeles, California. Cost was $6.49. 9.00% ABV confirmed. I dig the label art and presentation. Reviewed live.

Served straight from the refrigerator. Side-poured with standard vigor as no carbonation issues are anticipated.

A: Pours a half finger beige colour head, disappointingly thin, without much cream, and of poor retention (~1 minute). Colour is a dull copper. Pretty bland looking. Nontransparent. Opaque. No yeast particles are visible. No bubble show. Wow, that's weak.

Sm: Heavy pine and grapefruit. Floral character as well. Biscuit and pale malts. Nectary. Muddled. Pine is ultimately dominant, but it's somewhat messy. No alcohol comes through, nor does any yeast. An average strength aroma; not as bold or assertive as other beers in the style. Let's see how she drinks...

T: Piney, with some grapefruit zing on the climax. Murky fermented orange as an undertone. Biscuit and pale malts comprise the foundation. It's a bit bland until the climax, without much going on. Somewhat nectary, though the floral character is surprisingly restrained. I'd guess chinook was used based on the taste. I'd recommend a heavy addition of amarillo. No alcohol comes through. No yeast does either. It's balanced, but held back by its simplicity. It just doesn't feel clean and crisp like an imperial IPA should. It's not refreshing or nourishing.

Mf: Somewhat oily from the hops. Slick and wet, unnaturally so. Needs more coarseness to coax out the flavours. A bit overcarbonated. Thick. Not ideal, but decently executed. Lacks presence or punch. That said, there's no sharp biting quality as seen in many IPAs. Chewy.

Dr: A flawed imperial IPA, but nevertheless a pretty good one. I wouldn't get this again; their IPA is much better. A disappointment from Black Diamond. That said, I look forward to trying more of their beers. Hides its ABV quite well. Drinkable but boring.

A: Poured a hazy deep orange with good carbonation leaving a nice white cap, some bubbles, good head retention leaves spotty lacing on the glass

S: Citrus, a little bit of tropical fruits in the way of mango, dash of pine apple and underlying caramel

T: Taste followed the nose rather well. Citrus dominates the initial and middle with a subtle juicy tropical fruit element The caramel malt gives it a big backbone and a light booze sting is noticed. Dry and warming in a moderate bitter finish.

M: Medium body. Moderate carbonation.

O: Decent DIPA.

On tap at Tony's Darts Away in Burbank, CA.

Pours a clear orange with a foamy off-white head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. Foamy rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus fruit, citrus zest, and yeast. Taste is much the same with a mild hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is pretty tasty but the yeast flavor is pretty noticeable.
