First had: on tap at American Flatbread, Burlington, VT

An American Flatbread house beer. Poured a slightly hazed copper-brown with rusty tints, and a finger or so of off-white head that receded to a thin layer of bubbles. Basic aroma of toasted grains, sweet malts, earthy hops. Taste of malt-soaked wood, toasted grain, , and some mellow hoppage coming in mid-palate. A tad metallic, but not detracting in any serious way. Finished smooth and mostly sweet with a slightly bitter aftertaste. Medium-bodied and quite drinkable.

Pours a nice reddish-copper color with a two-finger head and very nice clarity.

Aroma is smooth with sweet, grainy malt in the nose. Easygoing.

Taste is light and malty with a hint of caramel upfront. Very mild and yet, full of flavor.

Mouthfeel is full of lingering grainy malt and caramel. Delicious in every way.

Let's just say that this is delicious, sessionable and worth a shot. Its hard enough to find altbiers on tap. Check it out!

Off the tap at American Flatbread this beer was a hazy copper color with a one finger, cream-colored head. Good retention and good lacing too. The aroma was soft, dry and very grainy. The flavors were very "European" in style, starting with caramel malt before becoming very dry and taut with lots of wheat and notes of citrus. The dry hopping showed through and the finish was slightly bitter. The mouthfeel was smooth and creamy, the body medium and the carbonation perfect.

Pours deep copper with a thin off-white head that vanishes after awhile.

The smell is of roasted caramel. Earthy notes. Clean.

The taste is of roasted caramel. Earthy notes are there, so is cedar. Sweet finish.

Quite hoppy for the style. But, with spalt hops. Needs more of a malt profile to really fit the bill, IMO. Still, it's a worthy attempt. Very clean. Seems too spalted - more of a malt profile would do it wonders. As it is though - it's decent.
