First had: on tap at Earth Bread + Brewery, Philly, PA

The fine folks from American Flatbread, Burlington, VT (one of my favorite pubs in the country) stopped by Earth Bread and left a few treats behind. Ripley poured a slightly hazy amber color with a small white head. Aroma of sweet malts, fruity esters and yeast. More of the same in the taste: bready yeast, pale malts, notes of dried fruits, citrus pith, and a bit of spice, herbal hops. Medium body, moderate carbonation, and pretty good overall for the style.

Pours a cloudy amber color with a one finger head.

Aroma is spicy and fruity. Malt and alcohol warmth show through.

Taste is smooth and sweet with a hint of raisin/plum. Some alcohol warmth upfront.

Mouthfeel is spicy with the raisin and plum flavors.

A nice and drinkable tripel. Should be sipped but its good enough to quaff if you're not driving. Good stuff.

On tap poured into a 6oz wine glass, 2008 vintage.

Pours a nice clear golden amber with a small bright white thin head that has some light lacing. Nose is light, sweet, and very fruity.

Taste is sharp and sweet with a really nice full body and sharp carbonation. Lots of earthy, yeasty notes along with a light sweet finish.

Served in a tulip glass at the brewpub.

Pours a clear orange/gold color with a one finger white head that dissipates quickly with little lacing. Sweet/fruity yeast aromas are prevalent. Lots of flavors going on, sweet honey, vanilla, raisin & caramel, tart green apple, sour yeast, bitter lemon and orange with some alcohol warmth. Highly carbonated, medium body, this coats the palate with a dry finish. The balance of all the different flavors is very nice making this very drinkable.
