Being a mid-westerner, I haven't had the opportunity to try Duck-Rabbit beers before, but have heard they are held in high regard. And I didn't find this one to be especially worthy of the praise I've heard for this brewery. It is a little light in color (more a red-brown than a black) and had a decent amount of off-white head. Aroma was decently roasty, although pretty light in roastiness for this style. Flavor was roasty, toffee-ish, and has a weird, slightly sour malted milkball note that I didn't especially enjoy. Mouthfeel was a little thin, and fairly dry.
Decent, but decidedly average. I wouldn't hesitate to try some other Duck-Rabbit beers, but I'd be reluctant to give this one another try.
