The color is dark, opaquely so. A decent head, not much retention really. Smells faintly of bready malt, with a background of chocolate and the faintest hint of raisins... or maybe I'm crazy.
The taste is interesting, a bitterness which is augmented by a pretty well carbonated mouthfeel, trailing off with a bit of smokiness. Though I appreciate that the taste is certainly interesting, it seems to me that it doesn't really match this beer's smell as closely as I would expect. Odd. Not very well balanced.
Definitely not bad, but it's not my favorite porter in the world. The smokiness is nice, but I perceive it as being just a bit one-dimensional. I probably won't be going out of my way to get this one again, but if it was there, I would not mind drinking it.
