12oz bottle received as an extra in a trade with TimmyP. Thanks Tim! Poured into a Portsmouth goblet. Enjoy before 10/09 on the label.

A - Pours an extremely dark brown, almost black that light struggles to make its way thru. A 1/2 finger of loose, cream colored, slightly soda-like head that disappears quickly leaving an uneven collar. No lacing on the sides of the glass.

S - Lots of roastiness, roasted barley, slightly acidic, floral and spicy hops.

T - Somewhat acidic/sour, dark roasted coffee, slightly bitter. Flavors are struggling to get past the tartness in this one. My first experience with this beer, so not sure if this is a bad bottle or not...not really enjoying the flavor here.

M - Highly carbonated, very prickly mouthfeel. A puckering experience.

D - Not very good. Really hope I just got a bad bottle on this one. I've enjoyed the other Duck Rabbit brews I've had. This one let me down.

12oz bottle served in a shaker pint glass. Best before August 2014.

Appearance: Black with a thin tan head. Clear mahogany/ruby red at the edges when held up to the light. Some islands of lacing noted.

Smell: Not a lot of aroma to this. Some hints of roasted malts and burnt sugar but that's about it.

Taste: Toasted malt, hint of bittersweet chocolate, some toffee, and a tobacco/smoky bitter finish.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, approaching creamy. Lively carbonation but not fizzy - scrubs the tongue but there is a hint of stickiness left.

Overall / Drinkability: Full flavored, interesting, and good with desert (chocolate peanut butter banana bread). I suspect it would be a very good base for ice cream floats and probably would go well with a burger also. Not sure I would want more than one per evening though, but I think I would definitely pick up a six pack next time I see it. Other than a weak aroma - a good beer.

Poured from a bottle into an English pint glass

A- Black with several fingers width of head, nice lacing on the glass, good head retention

S - Predominantly smells of chocolate and roast malt, but the aroma is on the faint side

T - The taste itself is pleasant -- chocolate, neither too bitter nor too sweet.

M - The most noticeable characteristic was a very prickly carbonation which almost ruined the beer for me, hiding the pleasant taste and otherwise creamy, full mouthfeel. Swirling the beer for a bit to release some of the carbonation helped to calm the prickliness, after which the beer was more enjoyable.

O - If the carbonation were toned down a bit, this would be a very enjoyable and above average beer. With the distracting prickliness, it is just okay.
