Received as an extra in a trade with Kiefdog.

Appearance: Opaque amber brown. Short white head with low retention. Decent lacing.

Smell: Uber sweet malts with apple, cherry and sherry highlights. Picking a little of alcohol. This smells great.

Taste: I was expecting an all out sweet malt bomb and while it's definitely malty and sweet, it's not overwhelming. All the favors apparent in the nose with a little cinnamon as well as a pleasant warming sensation.

Mouthfeel: As noted before, the heat is pleasant. It's a cold night here and it's hitting the right notes. Mild carbonation with a heavy body.

Drinkability: I usually find strong Wee Heavies too sweet to go beyond a few bottles. Although I haven't quite made it a third bottle, I am confident I could put a number of these down on a cold night.

From the 12. fl. oz. bottle sent to me from a non BA-member in trade. Sampled on February 10, 2014.

It pours a handsome looking deep amber tone with a quick lasting off-white head. Mild carbonation.

That aroma is so Scottish! The sweet malts really kick in on the nose along with a feint dark fruit character. It does make me wish to drink the beer.

The body is medium to full but generally rather smooth.

The taste is sweet and malty like the most traditional of Scottish Wee Heavy brews. Kind of on the mellow side considering the 8% ABV. And that higher ABV is well masked.

Absolutely gorgeous cognac brown coloring with the lightest of fluffy, bright white heads.

The aromas were sweet barley grain with tinges of chocolate and caramel but underneath it all I smelled peas....earthy, vegetative green peas, yuck.

The flavor is Barley! Smooth, sweet barley with a pronounced grain and some wine like qualities.

The feel is firm, with a nice thickness and what appears to be a low carbonation. I did detect a slight bite at the end of the swallow which could have been the 8 pct ABV or just a bit of carbonation.
