Pours just about black with a brown hue at the bottom when held to the light. Just about no head with the little latte colored collar falling to a thin sheet. No lacing at all.
Dark malt aroma -brown sugar and toffee. Faint fruitiness comes in before fusel alcohol carries it all away.
Flavor is similar to the aroma, but seriously amped up. Brown sugar, toffee, and chocolate and dark caramel. Lots of cherries and plums. Fruitiness is pretty dominate with a nice chocolate covered cherry mingling. Just as the malt start getting sweet and the fruit taking over, a blast of roasted acidity shows up. Espresso mixes in before the alcohol carries it away. Finishes dry with little aftertaste. Complex with a great mix of flavors.
Medium bodied and smooth. Starts getting a little sticky before the roasted malts kick in some crisp bitterness. A big beer that begs you to take another sip. Very nice.
